"Hey."

"Hey."

You and Sasuke Uchiha stared at each other for what felt like an eternity. He had come to visit you at the hospital. You two were practically best friends, for as long as you had known each other. You smiled at his awkward figure, a frown, hands in his pockets, staring at the floor.

"Is everything okay?" You questioned.

"What? Is everything okay with me? I should be asking you that, idiot!" He responded abruptly.

"I'm fine, as long as I don't move a lot it doesn't hurt. I'll be out of here in a matter of weeks." You giggled.

"You are way too optimistic for my liking, Miteri. How can you laugh in a time like this?" He walked over to the bed and sat down. "I can't believe you! I always tell you to be careful, and-"

"Shut up, asshole," you smirked, pushing him gently at the shoulder, "What do you want me to say? I'm sorry? Then I'm sorry. You're not my parent, you get in trouble just as much Sasuke."

Sasuke rolled his eyes. You could have sworn he muttered under his breath, "You're right..." But you weren't sure.

"So did you come to just yell at me? Or are we going to act like normal human beings and talk? You haven't talked to me in like a week!" You cried out to the emo.

"Well, what is there to talk about?" he scratched his head, softening up, "Okay. Let's see. The Genin Exams are in about a month. Hopefully, you'll recover in time to watch me. And Naruto. And, I suppose that annoying girl Sakura."

You nodded your head. Oh, shit! You had forgotten to tell Sasuke about the letter. Your eyes lit up.

"Sasuke, guess what. I got a letter in the mail the other day, and it said...I could be an assistant Jounin! Meaning, I will become an assistant teacher to a group in your class!"

Sasuke smiled. "Wow, that's great!"

You knew he was portraying a great deal of emotion, he just didn't know how. Or wasn't really good at it, in general. You wondered what students you would get. You didn't really care all that much. You just wondered who would be the official Jounin in charge of everybody.

You talked for almost half an hour. Back and forth, revealing the light-hearted Sasuke that you loved.

Sasuke turned around. "Oh, its nearly 11. Its Sakura's turn to visit you. Brace yourself." He chuckled.

He stood up and gave you a hug. "Bye, loser!" He shouted as he opened the door and stepped outside. You shook your head playfully.

Next came in Sakura.

"Oh! I'm so glad you're okay!" She ran up to you and embraced you. Sakura could truly be so annoying sometimes.

You grinned at her arrival. "What's up? Anything new?"

She babbled about the flowers she picked at school, Sasuke (who wasn't interested one bit), more flowers, and more Sasuke.

"How about you? Well, other than the injury." She stared at your leg.

You told her all about the letter, and how excited you were for the Genin exams and how you hoped that she would pass.

She nodded her head happily at everything you said. She seemed to look away once in a while, placing a soft, sad look on her face for seconds at most.

"Is..everything okay?" you questioned curiously.

"Yeah. Just..I'm worried if I'm being honest...worried if I'm going to pass...I'm weak. And useless. Unlike you. You are so talented..you have so many Jutsus and you are so much stronger..." She gazed towards the mark below your eye. "And, who knows what that can do."

The mark. You sealed your lips shut. Ever since you were a baby you had the mark. A little symmetrical cross right below your eye. It wasn't ugly. You didn't like it. Once in a while, it would randomly start hurting. A sharp, strong pain. Over the years it grew stronger. You hadn't noticed much of a pattern of when the mark hurt. It hurt usually when you were over the boundaries, not anywhere in particular. When there was sunlight. Peeking down. People didn't know...what it could do. Questions filled the air. "A special Jutsu?" "Just a scar?" A..curse mark?

Every time it led back to the same thing. A curse mark. A curse mark... You repeated that in your head a lot. From who? What could it do? Nothing yet. Yet... You wondered to yourself. Could it do something good? You could just wait. Wait and see for it to be revealed to you. The day everything would make sense.

You smiled at Sakura.

"I'm sure it's nothing. And you will do well. It is not like they do some hard activities where you fight to the death. You'll be fine. Trust me."

Sakura nodded her head, placed flowers into the vase next to your hospital bed, and scurried out of the room. You pushed a strand of your (h/c) hair behind your ear. You gazed into the mirror.

Wow, your locks haven't ceased in changing color. You noticed every year your hair grew lighter and lighter on the tips. It was...pretty.

Ugh. You just couldn't get comfortable, tossing from side to side on your bed. First, you were hot. Then cold. And on and on and on until you couldn't honestly tell what you felt. Instead, you just sunk under the covers. Someone just turn off the fan already. It's already below freezing, I swear.

Your eyes switched to staring at the table next to you. A little box. You reached forward, squeaking at the pain of your leg. Wow, why is Dasha making me do this?

You ripped the seal over the box and looked down into it. YES! Your MP3 player. Naruto must have brought it. It was beautiful. You giggled. Your best friend through all the years. Music that would blast through the little box, best when earphones placed into the little hole. During training and while relaxing at home alone, or with friends, it was perfect. You had hundreds of songs saved on it that would switch around that you smiled to.

You grabbed the earphones, stuck them in your ears, pressed a few buttons and laid down. Right when you sat down...

"Nee-CHAAAAAN!"

Damn. The little psycho. Here he was. Oh my.

"Th-they said, they said no visitors, but I fought my way over!" He said, nearly out of breath.

"Naruto..could you not have just waited? I'm fine, also, why would you fight? You could be in serious trouble right now!" You reprimanded.

Inside, you giggled at his antics. You couldn't help but laugh at his funny figure, hands on his knees, a shocked and exasperated look on his face.

~Time Skip~

"Dang it, I think they're coming!" Naruto exclaimed, a long thirty minutes later. A few seconds passed, some yelling, and Naruto being dragged out of the room.

You shook you head in laughter until the room went silent and you were the only one left. Suddenly a gust of wind took you from behind and you turned around.
