“I don’t think that we're meant to understand it all the time. I think that sometimes we just have to have faith.” ~ Nicholas Sparks
Rushing into the house so that I could change immediately, I saw Anushka and Gaurav sharing an intimate moment.
“How many times will I have to tell you guys to get a room?” I asked with disgust.
They broke away from each other. “Gross,” I added.
Gaurav looked away but Anushka was shameless.
“I love him and I will kiss him in the hall, kitchen or room. My wish,” she argued. I gave her a sickened look. I think I could and would puke.
Gaurav smiled and came and gave her a kiss on the cheek. She smiled.
“Are you guys done?” They were big fans of PDA. Scratch that, they were big fans of grossing me out.
Gaurav came over to me and gave me a peck on the cheek. “You don’t have to be jealous,” he teased me.
“Ughhh, why?” I wiped my cheek. Gaurav laughed while I kept cleaning my cheek.
She gave me a look over. “Rain dude got his girlfriend drenched,” she said teasingly.
“Do you even hear yourself?” I asked her with disgust. She was laughing now. Gaurav shook his head at her madness.
I went in and had a warm bath. It felt good to get into some nice dry clothes.
Today had been amazing. It had been fun to go back to those places. A different kind of memory had been created. A polished one. I came in the kitchen with a smile on my face.
“What all did you do?” Anushka sat next to me and gave me an inquisitive look.
“Met four times,” I replied dreamily and she looked confused.
“What?” she was baffled.
“He recreated each and every one of our meets,” I told her excitedly.
“The puddle one also?” she asked elatedly.
I nodded happily.
“He is so sweet,” she said. Gaurav gave her a funny look from inside the kitchen.
“He is good for her,” she corrected herself and slyly winked at me. I grinned.
“So what was the fourth one?” she asked with a puppy dog face. “Give me the details, “she added. I couldn’t say no to her now that I was over the embarrassment.
“Had a lecture at 2 in the afternoon,” I started,” went to Subway for lunch. My order took more than the estimated time and I was late. So I was rushing back to college while eating the sub and guess who I bang into?” I asked dramatically.
“Akash,” she exclaimed while giggling. Her excitement was catchy.
“I spilled most of the contents on his coat,” I continued.
“What was his reaction?” she asked.
“His exact words,” I said remembering them,” Can’t you look where you’re heading? I have a very important meeting now and you just had to do this,” I smiled. He had been so angry.
“He yelled at you?” she asked.
“He hadn’t seen me till then. He was busy saving his coat. Nor had I seen him. I looked up and it was him and believe me when I say this but I was mortified,” I said truthfully.
“He looked up then and he was shocked to see me. I apologised ceaselessly and he forgave me the moment he recognized me,” I said with a smile.
“He melted at your sight. So gracious,” Anushka teased me.
“Wasn’t he?” I asked. “He was getting late and so he left,” I ended my story with a sigh.
She was smiling throughout the story.
“Of course he was gracious. He was in love with you,” she teased me.
“It’s just the first date, Anushka. Love takes time,” I said.
“No it doesn’t,” she said looking at Gaurav.
“You guys are a different case,” I tried arguing.
“At 16, love was just a better word for infatuation. It took me a couple of years to come to terms with actual love,” she replied with understanding. “I finally realised when I was 20 that he wasn’t going anywhere. And I knew I didn’t want to live my life with anybody else,” she continued.
I loved listening to their story, always. Just the public display of their love grossed me out.
“You guys have seen each other so many times. You both are meant to be,” she said. “And Rhi, every love story is different. You are not going to take four years like me to figure out if this guy is right for you,” she added.
“He feels so right,” I said softly.
“There you go,” she replied.
Gaurav came in then. We chatted for a while before he left to drop Anushka home. Before sleeping I messaged Akash.
Today was amazing. Had fun. See you tomorrow. Good night. :)
My phone beeped immediately. It was Akash.
I had an awesome time too. Good night! :)
I snuggled into my bed and fell fast asleep fairly immediately.
