Gracie's pov

"What's the bench?"
Paul asked as I dragged him down the streets of London.
"It's my symbolical place, it's the place I'll never forget."
I started jogging and he jogged after me.
"Me and the lads always walk down here."
Paul said as we approached the bench.
"Really?"
"Here!"
I said, I sat down on the bench, that very bench I felt most alone.

That bench started my journey.
I patted the area next to me.

He sat down next to me.
"This is it."
I said.
"Why is this important to you?"
I smiled and lifted my head up looking at the stars that twinkled above us.
"It's a perfect night."
I whispered.
He moved his thumb to my chin moving my head to Aline which his.
"Your perfect."
I smiled.
"Your so incredibly beautiful luv."
"Your eyes, there so strange yet so amazing."
I sighed.
"What?"
Paul chuckled.
"It's just, everyone says that. Zac did-"
"Wait. Who's he?"
My eyes widened.
"Oh uh- he's Uh- he's my friend!"
"Mmhm."
"Well either way luv its true your eyes are beautiful."
"This bench is special to me, because I guess it's where my story started."
"How?"
Paul said intertwining our hands.
"I don't know how to say, it's difficult because if I tell you... you know everything about me."
"What do you mean?"
I got up and twirled my dress around under the sky.
"Because, this bench is special."
Paul got up and held my hands and we both spun around in each other's hands.
"I want to know everything about you."
He whispered.
"Once you hear it, you might think differently of me Paul."
I said letting his hands go and walked behind the bench and out into the grassy area behind it.
He followed.
"Nothing you say. Nothing in the world. Would change how I think about you."
I stopped in my tracks and smiled.
I turned to face him.
"I was a very fun out going kid. And one morning when I was playing outside a boy and his friends walked past."
-Memory as she tells the story-
"Oi! Kid!"
I stopped bouncing my new ball I got for Christmas.
"What?"
I said as a boy with brown hair said.
"What's your name?"
"Who's asking?"
"Me."
He said walking to me.
I smirked and ran over to my basket ball hoop and threw the ball, it missed and I got super embarrassed.
He chuckled.
"Come here."
I walked over to him.
"Pass the ball."
"No."
"Please!"
I shrugged and handed him the ball.
"Ready."
I nodded.
He threw the ball to the hoop but missed.
"Ha ha!"
"See no ones perfect-"
"Gracie."
I said.
"No ones perfect Gracie, not even a bird like you."
"Oh really-"
"Zac."
He said.
"Oh really Zac?"
I said as I got the ball and threw it directly in the hoop.
"Maybe I was wrong?"
Zac said.
We both started laughing.
-Memory over-
"So zac was your best friend?"
I nodded.
I turned back around to face the night sky.
"I was just 5, he was 6 but we got along so well. We started dating at 16."
Paul placed his hand on my shoulder.
"Until he died."
Paul didn't say anything so I decided to go on.
"One thing I never knew about dearest dearest Zac, was that he had a quite serious depression he always tried to hide. His dad and his sister died in a car crash that year he moved to liverpool. He never told me."
"So 5 months ago, he asked me to come over. It wasn't unusual I'd always go over. I was 50 minutes late. Because I had an argument with my mum about college. So when I arrived he'd already- um."
I dropped to the grass.

Paul ran next to me.
But this time I wasn't going to cry.
"The next couple of weeks we had his funereal, and I ran. I ran for my life. I ran to a train station hoped on and fled. I did just what a coward would do. And it didn't feel good believe me. I caught a train to London. And I had nothing. No money, no clothes, no nothing. It was raining, and I had no where to go. Nothing to eat. And I stumbled across this bench. I laid on it, th and rain getting heavier and heavier. I just laid there though freezing cold and probably regretting my whole life decisions. Until a group of people walked past me and one guy stopped and gave me some money."
"That was you?"
"What?"
"This happened 5 months ago?"
"Yeah..."
"That was me!"
-Paul's memories of that night as he told her-
"It's freezing Paul! Just because Jane broke Ye heart doesn't me you get to walk out In the rain!"
John yelled as he ran after me.
I had stormed out of the pub, Jane broke up with me for some other guy she worked with for 3 seconds!
I couldn't start with how angry I am.
I could hear the rest of the lads running after me.
I was just so confused, we were so fucking happy. I'd do anything for Jane, I loved her.
"Comon paul! We've got to record tomorrow and it's getting late!"
George yelled.
"Just piss of lads! Your no fucking help!"
John and George were beside me and ringo was tagging behind.
"Paul we're trying to help, just come back and we'll get drunk."
"No. I can't keep drinking my feelings away."
I stopped, and looked to my left.
It was dark but I could make out someone lying on that bench. It's freezing and raining, and i don't no why but I felt that they had bigger problems.
"Paul?"
I walked over to the bench and kneeled down.
It was a girl, she opened her eyes.
They were absolutely astonishing. I've never seen anything like them. I was caught just staring into them.
I dug into my pocket and pulled out some money, enough for food and maybe some more things.
I handed her the cash.
"Are you ok luv?"
She then took the money got up and left.

She was in a black dress and she had brown hair, her eyes were unforgettable.
And for seemed for a century.
I'd forgotten about Jane.
I smiled as I watched her shadow get smaller in the distance.
"Paul?"
John said placing his hand on my shoulder.
"Yeah let's go back."
John nodded and we all walked back.
-Memory over-
I stared at Paul as he told me that story, it all made sense.
"Yknow Gracie when I first officially met you, I looked into your eyes and I knew that I'd seen them somewhere."
"Wow."
"That's crazy, Paul! It's like destiny we've met like on accident."
I took his hands and we both got up from the ground.
We looked into each other's eyes, and I smiled.
But this time it was different, I smiled and I really meant it.
Paul's pov
I watched as she smiled at me.
I thought.
I think I'm in love with this girl.
