Theresa felt like she couldn't move. Fear radiated off of her, and the blonde-haired, red-eyed vampire standing before her couldn't help but smirk, indicating that he enjoyed seeing her terror.
"Theresa!" Jasper yelled her name again. She whipped her head around to look behind her. She had hoped that she would see Jasper running towards her, but instead, all Theresa saw were moss-covered trees and damp leaves.
"Theresa," The vampire said, causing the human girl to turn back to him, "Such a cute name."
The compliment sent a chill down her spine. She watched as the vampire tilted his head, his sadistic smile taking over his features. The air around them was thick with tension, and Theresa let out a shaky breath. She was completely paralyzed with fear, unable to move a muscle. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest as she desperately hoped for Jasper's arrival. But for now, she was alone with this terrifying vampire and had no idea what he had in store for her.
"Theresa!"
Jasper's cries for Theresa grew louder as the vampire approached her. Theresa started panicking, looking around for something to use as protection, but nothing was within her reach. She knew she wasn't fast or strong enough to escape the vampire. Theresa remembered what she had done the last time she was in this situation. In one swift motion, she brought her hands out in front of her face, protecting herself as red energy flowed from her palms. The force of the energy caused both the vampire and Theresa to fly through the air before falling onto the ground.
"Tess!" Bella's yell caught her attention, causing her to lift her head from the grass.
Theresa smiled as she saw her cousin, happy she was safe again.
She tried to stand up, but Bella and Carlisle rushed to her side, holding her arms carefully.
"Careful," Carlisle warned the girl as he and Bella helped her stand up, worried the force of her powers may have hurt her.
"Theresa!" A deep southern voice yelled, causing Theresa to instantly look up from her hands. A smile overcame the girl's face, "Jasper."
Jasper quickly brought the girl into his arms, hugging her like his life depended on it.
"Is no one going to talk about what just happened?" Rosalie asked no one in particular about the scarlet-red glowing energy from Theresa's hands.
"Not the time," Carlisle said, giving Rosalie a look.
"Are you okay?" Jasper asked Theresa as he held her face in his hands.
"There's a vampire in the woods," Theresa said, eyes looking at the forest, ignoring Jasper's question.
"There's more than one," Alice said, making Theresa feel like she could puke from her fear.
Theresa felt shoved to the back as the Cullens stood before her and Bella. Theresa found her way beside Bella, reaching out to grab her hand. She gripped it as three figures emerged from the fog surrounding the clearing.
