MIA'S POV:
Wednesday.
"Third day." I sighed and pushed my glasses closer to my nose bridge for the thousandth time today.
"Third day what?" Tracey asked as she sat in the nearest chair close to me.
It was our last class for today,English Literature. I know I'd sound a bit stupid if I said I hated English Literature and would have preferred maths. But I wouldn't want to get the nerd thing attached to my name and wearing glasses like the ones you'd come across in any Anime was evident enough to be called one. Maybe I am but I was too socially active to be called a Nerd,so most people just ignore my super good grades and invite me for more parties.
"Are you really that Oblivious?"
"Oblivious to what?" Tracey shrugged. I got to admit, she could be so damn fustrating atimes.
"Alyssa has not been in school."
"Oh." She rolled her eyes.
"Oh? That's it? Your bestfriend has been calling in sick for three days and all you say is Oh?"
Tracey laughed.
"Calm down,Mia." She shrugged again. "I'm sure she's fine. What's so bad in calling in sick?,She'll get well in a couple of days."
"But you still post pictures on Instagram when you are sick, you text literally everyone and you receive the get well soon calls."
"Yeah so what?"
" Alyssa is not doing any of that. She's not picking anyone's call, she's not replying all my messages and she's not using any social media." I face palmed my face. "It's like she's dead."
"What the Hell,Mia" Tracey smiled.
Just the same time,Norman walked into the class and ignored Tracey and I. What was wrong with him anyway? I helped him in every way I can and when she suddenly said how she felt,He wasn't talking to us any more? How immature!,I spat!
I guess I could understand how he felt,A highly respected and popular senior getting embarrassed by some mere secluded girl in a birthday party that he had also contributed a lot to could have hurt him really bad.
Kyle suddenly came to our table and glared at Tracey. "I knew you were fucking up to something, you proud bitch!"
"Proud Bitch? Such a weak effort, Kyle. Step up your game." Tracey hissed at him.
"You shameless thing. You just had to embarrass him in front of the whole school."
" It wasn't my idea to invite the whole school to her party. It was his" Tracey laughed.
"Can't believe we dated. Christ. What the hell was I thinking?" To be honest,I've never seen Kyle so angry,He has always been the cool and nice guy that had a similar character with Conor.
"You think I wanted it too?" Tracey spat. "I used you to get closer to Norman!" She said as Kyle widened his eyes.
"Oh." It was so obvious that he was damned hurt. "I see,Tracey. How typical of you." Just as quick as flash, his face was looking indifferent to whatever she had told him earlier.
"Now,shoo-" Tracey smiled using her well manicured fingers to wave him away. I felt bad for him but I kept my mouth shut,It wasn't my fight anymore.
Kyle glared at her approximately six seconds before he walked to his seat like nothing had happened,Tracey had totally shut him off.
********************************
Alyssa was looking like shit when we got to her house, her eyes were pale and bloody red as if she has been crying all her life. She was wearing an oversized pullover and jeans, she smelt like she hadn't been in a shower for months and her hair looked dishevelled.
"Are you okay?" I quickly asked as Tracey and I sat down on one of the worn out sofas that managed to still be as comfy as possible.
"Yes I am" She sat down on the opposite chair and was still facing the floor as if she was trying to hide some truth that was glaring in her eyes.
"Just sick or something" She shuffled through her unkempt hair.
" Have you been crying,Alyssa?" Tracey asked.
"No" She quickly cut in.
" But you look like it" I said, squinting through my glasses to get a closer look at her but she was trying to avoid eye contacts. What the hell was wrong with her?
"Well, maybe the sickness?" She adjusted herself nervously. "Gets me teary atimes"
I nodded sadly, pitying my best friend.
"Could it be because of what I did Alyssa?" Tracey asked.
"What you did?"
"I swear I was drunk and I didn't know what I was doing." She pleaded.
" What are you talking about Tracey?" Alyssa asked half-mindedly.
" I shouldn't have asked about how you felt about Norman in front of partially the whole school. I don't know what I was thinking." Tracey tried to look as remorseful as possible.
"It's okay. I've forgotten about it."
"Doesn't look like you did. You left your own birthday party before it even started."
" It wasn't exactly my party. You and-" Alyssa raised her hand and starting pointing here and there. " It was all of you's party. But I appreciate that my name was written on the supposed birthday cake."
" Stop talking like that Alyssa. Is this what is making you to stay out of school?" I had to ask. She was beggining to get very hard to read, one moment, she was looking sad and pitiful and on the other she looked like she wanted a chance to punch our faces like she once did to Hot Harold.
Wait what?
"No." She replied coldly.
"I'm really sorry. I didn't know what I was doing,What the hell is called Three Questions anyway?"
" It's okay. I'm sorry I left the party early too."
"Would you come back to school now?" I asked sadly.
"I'm getting better and I may."
"Alright then." I switched on my phone.
6:05pm. It was getting late and we had homework.
I stood up to leave and Tracey followed suit. We waved at her while trying to smile as much as we could.
Alyssa forcefully waved back and didn't get up from where she was, instead she collapsed slowly to the floor and bent her head.
So much for a friendly visit.
