(In this chapter, it's gonna skim through the first How To Train Your Dragon movie, so if you haven't seen it, please go watch!)
Hiccup yawned and sat up in bed. The rusty ceiling was shockingly sturdy. He climbed off of the wooden slate, threw on his fur vest and boots, then traipsed downstairs. It was was barely nearing daybreak, yet Hiccup was wide awake. Yells from vikings could be heard, and Hiccup didn't think much of it.
He opened the door, almost instantly regretting it. A large monstrous nightmare was chasing a herd of sheep, and looked directly at him. Hiccup slammed the door closed right as heat exploded around him. "Dragons." He stated while flinching from the fire.
Hiccup ran out of his home, ducking and diving from the huge flying lizards. He laughed a little while running, excited that he even made it out alive. Why don't us viking's just leave? He thought to himself. Oh right, stubbornness issues. He mentally facepalmed.
A viking came flying down, stopping Hiccup in his tracks. Screams and battle cries filled his eardrums. Hiccup turned around when a man got hit, and he was ran into. A gronckle's blast sent him flying backwards. It was painful, and as he looked up, Hiccup saw a viking appear before him.
The man horrible eardrum-bursting yell hurt Hiccups ears. He had his ax above him. "Morning." The man said with a toothy grin. Hiccup jumped up and took off running. He ran past viking men and women. "What y'doin?" A man with a barrel asked.
Another said, "Get inside." A woman yelled back at the scrawny boy. "Get back inside." She growled, her ax raised. A blond man was picking at his ear as Hiccup ran past. Another blast from a monstrous nightmare, and he felt his feet leave the ground. Stoick held Hiccup above the ground. "Hey whats he doing out again?" The man said, pointing to Hiccup.
He held the brunette close and yelled. "What are you doing out again? Get inside." Stoick said, throwing Hiccup to the side. He remembered something that people say. Apparently his father popped a dragons head right off its body, when he was just a baby. Did Hiccup believe it? Yes. Yes he did.
--------------------
Hiccup couldn't believe it. He was riding a dragon! The events of the past week were insane! He had learned how to train a nightfiery, and now how to fly it. Well, him. The dragons name, which Hiccup had decided on, considering his mouth and teeth situation, was Toothless. The wind blew through his hair with a strong force. "Woo hoo!" He yelled out, his arms flying in the air.
This was freedom. This is what it felt like. This was it. Hiccup yelled into toothless's scaly ear. "Let's go home, bud." The pond was a thankful reminder that Toothless was hidden. "Alright bud, I'll be back later." He whispered and scurried away, headed off to dragon training.
-----------
Dread had filled up his whole body as Hiccup entered the arena. The teens glared at him as he walked past. "Fishbone." He heard Snotlout mutter, then slam his hand and fist together. He shivered and rushed up to Gobber.
Turns out, they were facing the deadly Nadder. The dragon knocked down the makeshift walls easily, screeching as it tried to catch the them. Hiccup came out, barely alive and exhausted. As soon as he reached his hut, he flopped onto his rickety bed, and fell asleep.
----------
It seemed like a dream, the fly with Astrid, the beautiful sunset. The kiss. Hiccup stared up at the ceiling, beaming to himself. Astrid, his dream girl. She had kissed him on the cheek, and she now knew about Hiccup's secret. He laughed at the thought of her holding onto him as they flew. He was excited for what tomorrow would bring.

(Skip after the first movie)
Hiccup shivered as he walked. Lately it was a lot colder. Usually during Berks winter it was about ten degrees, but this year, it was negative fifteen! But the thing was, Berk didn't really have a winter, considering the fact that it snowed nine months of the year, and was stormy or hailed during the other three. The brunette teen rushed home, hiding inside a fur coat. Stoick sat at the lonely wooden table, drinking some kind of beverage.
"Hey dad..." He mumbled, sitting in front of his father. "Hiccup." The man stated solemnly.
Hiccup knew something was coming. Whether it was a punishment or news, he hadn't a clue. Stoick sighed and grabbed his sons hand. "I have news." The teens shoulders slumped, relief washing over him. But his father seemed...troubled. "What is it dad?" Hiccup was asking both, what the news was, and what was wrong.
"Son I know you're going to hate this but...King Fergus and Queen Elinor...they've...they've invited us to a...a...uh, contest." His eyebrows shot up. "Contest?" Hiccup carried the word out. His father sighed in defeat. "They want you to fight for the princesses hand."
---------------
The princesses hand. What did that mean? Why did he have to compete? He had never met this girl, and he never wanted to. His eyes were set on Astrid. Only Astrid. Hiccup was sitting outside in the grass, hating what his father had told him.
He was only a bone, a stick, he would never win, so there was no point in trying. No point at all. No way in Valhalla would he do this. "Why!?" He yelled up into the sky. "Why have you cursed me!?" Hiccup yelled to the gods, wherever they were. They were leaving tomorrow. Tomorrow? Why tomorrow? Would his dad let him bring toothless?
They would definitely travel faster...He shook his head. Princess Merida. He frowned at the word. Hiccup walked back inside sighing. "Are we bringing the dragons?" He asked quietly, staring at his father.
Stoick the Vast nodded. "We'll have to hide them, but yes. Yes we are." Hiccup nodded, feeling a little better about it. He knew that toothless would bring him moral support. Marriage. He shivered at the word and stared blankly at the wall. He didn't even know what she looked like.
---------------
Hiccup rode silently, his eyes stealing glances at Astrid. He was giving her up for some princess. The other vikings rode in boats pulled by the gangs dragons. It would be too obvious if they all showed up without a boat.
Scotland came into view after almost twelve hours, and Hiccup's nerves were on the fritz. The dragons dropped the ropes, and Hiccup lead them to a hidden spot in the forest. He wanted to say something, anything, to Astrid. She caught his eye and they both paused.
Stormfly flew the teens back to the boat, then flew back to the pine forest. "Astrid I-" She held her hand up. "Hiccup, it's not your fault. I'm fine." She went to the back of the boat, staring at the water. Hiccup sighed anxiously and looked up to his father. "It's alright my boy, you'll be okay."
Hiccup didn't find courage in his words. They were all so nervous. The small boat that Hiccup and his father were on banged against the docks and he suddenly felt dizzy. The other carriers slid in beside Hiccups boat, and they all jumped out.
"Aye boy, you'll be fine." Gobber whispered as they walked up to the stone castle. He shuddered. He would never live in a castle. The place was nice, and as they stalked through the dark hallways, they could already hear the other tribes fighting for her hand. Wow. They were late.

Hiccup bit his lip and stepped behind his father. Queen Elenor had caused a great silence throughout the room, and he was, well quite frankly, scared. She told them of the games, and Merida immediately sat up. "Archery!" She glanced over at her mother. "I choose, archery." She said in a harsh Scottish accent, that he actually found quite pleasant. The dress she was wearing looked uncomfortable, and a single strand of vibrant red hair was curling out. Elenor held her arms out wide, "Let the games begin!"
