They said the more prayers the better, a nurse came in earlier to say that it can be 12 hours and the doctor wanted to let us know that the baby has been active through it."

Dr Maldonado comes 12 hours later looks around, "Besides Oscar and Cesar and Tony and Alejandra I don't recognize any of you."
Smiles alittle at him, "Doc this is Lauren's family and the grandma that is glaring at you is the infamous Abuelita."
He nods and looks at us, "We were able to get the bullets out and the baby is safe but my concern is that we almost lost her twice. Does she have any heart problems?"
Esmeralda nods, "She was born with a heart murmur but hasn't had problems since she was a baby."
Dr. Maldonado nods, "That explains a lot her heart beat is very weak but as long as she stays calm she will be okay. Oscar I know you were both hoping for natural labor but it won't happen. I will schedule a C-section at 36 weeks." Points at all of us, "You need to make sure she stays in bed." Points at me, "You rest when she does. Her nausea and pain are going to get worse and I will keep prescribing her nausea medicine." Points at Fernando, "If you hadn't been in the spot you were I can't say we would be having this conversation. The shooter missed her abdomen by a inch."
2 hours later everyone left and goes in her room with tears watching the machines rubs her hand and belly, "My two girls I love you and glad you survived."
Lauren whispers and looks at me, "We are not going anywhere you have us right here handsome. Love you."
