"Ahhhh!" - "Ahhhh!"
I screamed they screamed.
"Why is everyone screaming." A man my age entered the room. His eyes widened. "Sir! She's awake!" I looked around they all seemed around my age, some younger They where all men, I pulled up my blanket covering my legs. "Everyone get out, your scaring her." They frowned leaving the room. "Don't worry princesses he'll be here soon." He left the room. Where am I, I looked down at my hand, it was covered in bandages as well as my feet.
My eyes widened remembering what the old lady said, she really did cut me, she was real,, did this mean that what she was also real...the door to the room opened. "Bandit." He grinned. "You almost look happy to see me, princesses." I smiled. "I am." He froze, a tiny tint of red spread on his cheeks. Is he. He looked away coughing. "So, how are you doing." Why was he acting so odd all of a sudden? "Depends on what part." He looked down at my hand. "Everything." I took a deep breath. 'I'll tell you what happened." I looked around. "If you tell me where we are at." He laughed. "That's right, I forgot, I just put you on a ship, while you were unconscious." I nodded...wait, what. "I quickly got up looking out the window, ocean. We were in the middle of the ocean. I glared at the bandit.
He scratched the back of his neck, smiling. "I can explain."
---
"I really do apologize princesses, I had no other choice, your father would have found you If I stayed in the kingdom, so I decided to hecth a ride, with a group of pirates." I took a deep breath. 'So you're saying that we're on a ship with a group of pirates." He nodded. "Why did they call you sir." I shrugged his shoulders. "I guess that's what they call every man." I groaned into my hands. "What a mess." I felt him get near. He grabbed ahold of my hand, unwrapping the white bandages. "Now tell me." He glared. "What happened that night in the cave." His eyes were so dark. "It was her." He stared. "Who." I gulped. "It was, the old lady." He clenched his jaw.
"When you left, after we..., will you know," I looked away feeling embarrassed. "She appeared. And she said some things," I looked down at my hand. "She said people would die, I saw people dying, my people, nights, guards, children. They were all dead." I looked up at the bandit, "She said, I could stop this. I could break it, what did she mean by this, why is it that you saw her too. Please, if you know something tell me." I begged. He looked hesitant.
"I- don't know anything. I just saw her in some dream...she never spoke to me. I'm sorry princesses." I frowned, looking down. Why was I even expecting him to know? "Come, you must be hungry." He extended his arm for my to take. We walked out of the room, he guided me towards the kitchen, area, "So what do you want princesses, there's bread, broth, meat, fish...wine. He glided through the kitchen as if he's lived here for years. "How do you know where everything is located?" He froze, "Uhm, Princesses, I'm a fast learner." I gave him a suspicious glare. "Okay..." I ate my bread in silence looking out the window, the bandit stood nearby throwing an apple up in the air.
I wasn't sure if I should say it, was it the right timing. "Why did you kiss me!" He stopped playing with the apple. There was a long silence, "Forget about it, it was nothing, I'm a man, seeing you in my clothes tempted me, forgive me, princesses, It was an accident." I looked down at my bread, I felt a lump in my throat. "Of course. Just-just don't do it again." I took a sip of my water.
Everything here seemed odd to me. The pirates, the bandit. Pirates weren't really kind, especially to a stranger, yet here I was eating their food. I wondered if he actually knew these pirates, they seemed awfully chummy, with each other. I dusted the crumbs of the big shirt, the door to the kitchen opened. It was the man from before, "Why hello, Miss, I've been meaning to officially present myself." He bowed, "My name is Wesley Pase I'm the-." The bandit cut in. 'He's the Captain." Wesley gave the bandit a confused look, but he quickly hid it with a nod.
"That's, right I'm the Captain."
...
Captain. No what am I thinking?! I nodded. "Nice to meet you, I'm Dawna- dawn, that's my name." Wesley looked over at the bandit again, then at me. "Dawn, please make yourself at home." He smiled. Talking his leave. I looked over at the bandit. "What?" He shook his head. "Nothing." I glared. "Tell me." He stopped playing with the apple, "Why didn't you give him your full name, princess?" I looked down at my necklace. "Because I don't want to be treated differently just because I'm the king's daughter." He looked at my necklace. "The person who gave you the necklace, is really important to you, huh, courtly love?" My eyes widened, feeling my face get hot. "No, of course not! Don't talk so carelessly." I almost whispered.
"If I'm not overstepping my boundaries here princesses, but why was that person so important to you." I clutch onto the necklace.
"Because."
...
"He was my first friend."
