the sound of the fireworks a few miles away startled me, the bright lights lit mine and my boyfriend, leo's, room; it lit up my boyfriend sleeping, his perfect features on display. another firework went off, making me shriek- i heard leo's breathing pattern change slightly, his head moved towards me and his eyes fluttered open.

"what's going on baby?" his raspy voice asked quietly, sitting up.

"the fireworks woke me up" i told him, looking out of the window. he wrapped his arms around me and kissed my neck, making me giggle, i felt him smile too. he pulled me onto his lap and snuggled into me as we watched the fireworks from the window.

"they're so pretty" he whispered in my ear, i smiled and watched as the colours exploded in the midnight sky.
