KILLUA'S POV
*A few hours earlier*
I stopped playing with my skateboard and looked around.
Jeez, is anything going to happen? The exam is incredibly boring so far... Maybe I should've just stayed home.
My thoughts were interrupted by the loud ringing alarm of the elevator door opening. I got on my tippy toes to see better over the tall crowd. A few people walked out of the engine. My complete disinterest took over my curiousity and made me shrug it off.
Meh... More participants.
"Hey!" A short tan man greeted me with a smile.
Literally no one here had said a word to me since I arrived a few hours ago. Not even him. Why is this guy so nice all of a sudden?
I couldn't help but be suspicious.
What does he want? Why is he smiling like that?
"You must be new here, I don't remember ever seeing you before! My name's Tonpa!" I tuned off his blabber and focused my vision on scanning him from head to toe.
With the light clothing he was wearing, he couldn't be hiding any heavy weapon. He was only carrying an orange bag with his right arm.
He's right handed.
He said he hadn't seen me here before so he should've participated to many hunter exams in the past. He has no beard but sideburns.
He's old fashioned. Somewhere in his mid forties.
His brown hair stayed in place but nothing too fancy. He probably applied water to it or something.
He's lazy.
His nails seem in normal condition, no bite marks on them or on his lips.
Layed back.
His smile is clearly fake and if he actually wanted to talk to me, he would've done it as soon as he saw me arrive hours ago.
He's a manipulator. A bad one at that.
(A/N: I'm not talking about Nen ability, just personality. Besides, Tonpa would probably be a Trnasmuter rather than a manipulator)
"How many times have you retaken this exam?" I asked with a raised brow while tucking my skateboard under my arm and stuffing my hands in my pocket.
Any normal person would be fooled by his easy going impression. Not me though.
It's crystal clear that this guy has a ton of ulterior motives.
He laughed briefly. "Straight to the point! I like ya, kid!" He doesn't. "I've retaken the hunter exam 34 times! This is my 35th attempt!" He said proudly.
At least one thing he said that seems remotely true.
Jeez... This dude's either a reckless idiot or he's not even trying.
I smirked. That's it. He's not even trying to be a hunter. He's here for a whole 'nother reason. But what?
"What's your name kid?" He asked with that same fake smile.
"Killua." I simply said.
"Well, Killua! How about we toast to friendship?!" He asked, opening his bag and taking an orange can of soda out of it. My face illuminated.
