Hunting Freecss: Hunter Exam (Killua X OC)

"May I have your attention?" Mr Satotz called out at the crowd.

The incoherent chatters, turned into background noises by my brain as I was reading, gradually faded until only the breeze could be heard.

"The forest you can see ahead is called the Milsy Wetlands." He said, pointing towards the trees. "Also known as Swindler's Swam. It is a zone highly renown for its endemic magical beasts who prey on human flesh."

My muscles suddenly all contracted and released in under a millisecond.

Kurapika and Killua, who both sat so close to me glanced at me curiously. Both probably curious about my spasm.

Being eaten alive is by far my worst nightmare.

*Flashback*

"What's that?" I pointed at an engraving on the tree beside me. It looked like two pairs of overlapped claw marks. They were both almost perfectly perpendicular.

I ran my hands against the sharp engravings.

"Judging from the width and the depth of the marks, it comes from a big animal. Possibly the claws of a grown bear."

My cousin's hazel brown eyes shone in excitement. "A bear?! That would be amazing!"

I shook my head. "Don't get too confident, Gon." I warned dangerously. "We are only here to hunt rabits. If we run into a bear, it'll probably be the last thing we ever see."

He frowned and gave me a dead pan expression. "You always have to wreck the fun." He complained. "Anyway, I've set a trap near the lake, let's go see if I caught anything."

I followed him silently through the tropical forest until we reached the clearing.

"Awn man..." Gon lamented, checking his empty trap.

I was about to laugh when we heard a loud grunt. I stepped back as my head snapped in the sound's direction.

Before us stood what looked like a huge and very aggravated female grizzly with her cub.

Her eyes were blood red and filled with hatred and bloodlust. Her mouth was slightly opened, just enough for me to see the razor sharp teeth it was concealing.

I stood there, frozen by fear. It growled again and charged at me.

"ISA, LOOK OUT!!" Gon yelled, quickly pushing me out of the way.

*End of flashback*

A shiver ran up and down my spine.

The human body is surely a miraculous thing. Who would ever believe it could be possible to feel both hot and cold at the same time?

I sighed. "I'm fine, Kurapika." I said before he could ask. He opened his mouth to say something but then closed it.

"You are to follow me to the second phase of the exam." Satotz continued. He seemed very strict and serious about the instruction. "It is called Swindler's Swamp for a reason. Odd and deceptive creatures lurk in these woods. Stay with me, or you will be eaten."
