THIRD PERSON POV

"Morning, sleepy head." Killua said with a smile as he turned back to the half awake redhead.

Isa sat up and streched, a little surprised to see the cat-eyed boy already wide awake and doing push-ups. "How long have you been up?" She asked in a yawn.

Killua continued his morning workout. "I haven't really slept to be honest." He answered a little dismissively, hoping she wouldn't question him.

"Because of our talk the other night?"

Killua mentally cursed. Why does she have to be so damn smart.

He stopped working out and sat up. He looked down and sighed.

"Are you afraid of me?"

Her amber eyes blinked at his unexpected question. "What?" Seemed to be the only thing circling her mind. "What would give you that idea?"

The way you jumped away from me after I killed Johness. Killua thought but instead answered:

"Nothing. I guess staying up two nights in a row makes me a little unreasonable."

Isa's eyes widened at his words. "You stayed awake two nights in a row?! Kill what is wrong with you?!"

He shrugged, relieved that his plan to change the subject worked.

After all, Isa was more concerned about her friend's wellbeing than what he thought of her.

"Bella, it's fine. I'm used to staying awake for extended periods of time. It was part of--"

"Your training?" She cut off with a raised brow. "Well this is not a training session, this is survival, Killua." She deadpanned angrily.

"The last thing I would want to winess is you passing out from sleep deprivation while you're running for your life!"

Isa's thoughts on the matter were clear: Killua and her both needed to keep their full strength during this phase if they wanted to make it out alive.

She wouldn't let him do anything as reckless as exhaust himself for no reason.

But Killua couldn't help himself.

He couldn't shake the feeling that something was off, and that had kept him awake for the two subsequent days.

Isa acted like a jerk towards him for almost three days and, since her fight with Gon, everything seemed fine.

Sure, her explanation was valid, but Killua still felt that her change of heart was pretty fast.

"Killuaaaaa....." Isa elongated her name purposely to snap him back to reality.

The boy realized he had spaced out and stared at her. "Hm..?"

She smirked and stood up. "Let's go collect some food and actually hunt."

Killua giggled as he had almost forgotten the whole point of this phase.

He needed to find the examinee number 199.

"How do you wanna do this?" Killua asked as they exited the cave.

"What do you mean?" Was the redhead's response.

"Well we both need to acquire our target's badge." He said while stuffing his hands in his shorts pockets. "So we either stick together and fight them both or we separate. We could meet back in the cave."

Isa's eyebrows furrowed thoughtfully as she analyzed the possible outcomes of both situations.

The first one would be the easiest for both of them, since finding and attacking a person is way easier when you're two on the task.
