Okay so a lot went on this pass week. Firstly it was the 3rd year anniversary of my brother's death and my whole family was emotional the entire week. On top of that, I had a bunch of finals to study for and take and it's finally over. 1 more semester and then I'm done college thank god. Now I can finally give proper attention to this story lol

It was almost time to leave for the club. Falen and Selena were upstairs getting ready and I stayed in the kitchen to eat. Falen had no intention of stopping to get food on the way to the club and I knew we wouldn't be able to stop after the club so it made sense to eat my fill now.

I went all out with the cooking. Even made myself a smoothie. I didn't plan on drinking tonight so I didn't have to worry about leaving room for drinks.

After Selena texted me telling me her and Falen were almost ready, I cleaned the kitchen up swiftly. I was almost done when mother lucifer herself walked in. I took a deep breath and braced myself. She probably found out where we were going and wanted Megan to join us. I continue washing the dishes humming to myself waiting patiently for her unwarranted tantrum.

Her eyes were on me. Those green orbs disturbed with calculated fury reserved for me felt like spiked whips at my back. I heard her whispering under her breath. Something along the lines of "stupid gold-digging cunt trying to ruin my family and steal my son's money".

I could be wrong though.

I mustered the biggest smile I could possibly obtain in this situation before turning to face her. "Emilia, I didn't see you there. What bring you here? Feeling hungry?"

She returned my smile with every bit of iciness. "Oh I just smelled this god awful stench coming from this room and wondered what vermin slithered their way inside of my lovely home. Turns out it was just you."

Oh how badly I wanted to dunk her head in this dish water.

I cleared my throat. "I'm having a really good day-."

"I was too. A good year in fact until you showed up." She steadily approached me, he red bottoms clanking beneath her reckoned walk.

I dried my hands with a dish towel and turned to face her. I'll be as respectful as I can to her but the minute she throws hands, Mugen can't blame me for how I retaliate. "Is there any particular reason why you dislike me? I don't recall doing anything disrespectful or upsetting to you."

"You don't deserve him. My Mugen." She crossed her arms and we stood toe to toe.

"That's not your call to make. Mugen is a grown man. He doesn't need your input."

"When you're a mother," I rolled my eyes at her, "then you'll understand that no matter how old your child gets, the motherly love and protection never disappears."

"That applies when you're actually protecting them from harm, not being bitter just because you don't agree with their choice of significant other. Whether you like it or not, I am his soon to be wife." I stood with my chin up and shoulders squared. I will not be bullied by a monster in law. Not today.

"My son is a ruthless and prosperous businessman. His very name brings fear to the underworld and advantages to low lives. He was running businesses and obtaining wealth at the age of seventeen while you were being whored out like a prostitute. You have nothing worth mentioning to call your own. You have no college degree, no hand in business, no worth ethic, no showmanship, no acedemic merit. You do have a high school diploma, I will give you that but do you honestly believe someone such as yourself, who's biggest achievement was being a perfume maker's trophy wife, has the qualifications to stand at my son's side. As his wife? As his partner? As the mother of his kids? The development of your mind must have ceased early."
