Hajime Hinata
Ever since you were a kid, you've been a quick study, getting exceptional grades without much practice and acing every exam you were given. On top of that, you became close with almost every teacher you met, which led to you being picked on by your classmates for being a "teacher's pet". That didn't last long since the teachers you had befriended made it clear they would not tolerate any abuse directed towards you, but that unfortunately made you even less popular with your classmates, and you went from being bullied to being shunned instead.
Despite being ignored by your peers, you pushed on, passing every grade with flying colors until you were invited to join Hope's Peak Academy as the Ultimate Scholar. Of course, you jumped at the chance to attend, thinking this was a place you could finally be accepted.
Thankfully, you were right. You fit in at Hope's Peak much more than you did at any of your past schools, and for the first time ever, you felt what it was like to not be despised by your peers, especially when it came to the reserve course students, whom you all got along with extremely well.
That's how you met Hajime Hinata, the reserve course student you became closest to. He could be a serious guy, but still nice overall. His biggest flaw seemed to be just how insecure he was over being in the reserve course rather than one with a talent.
You were disheartened to hear that he thought lowly of himself. Just because he wasn't an Ultimate didn't mean he mattered less. He's still a person (and a good one, at that), so you make to remind him when needed. After all, it's what friends do, right? You're still new to this whole "having friends" thing.
Nagito Komaeda
CW- References to mental illness and suicidal thoughts
It's official. You hated him.
He wasn't so bad at first. When you first met Nagito, he seemed like a normal dude: friendly, patient, and easygoing.
Then he found out your Ultimate Talent.
You're the Ultimate Poet. Your work is very popular and known for being morose because of the subject matter. You suffer from clinical depression and began channeling your emotions and experiences with your mental health through poetry when you first learned to write. Your works are written under your legal name rather than a pseudonym, and once Nagito found out what you write, his personality completely changed.
One of your most popular poems was about your suicidal thoughts, and it mentioned you feeling hopeless. Nagito didn't like that one bit. He went on a crazed rant about hope and how important it is, how it can heal all wounds, etc. As far as you were concerned, it was just the ravings of a lunatic.
As quickly as Nagito had charmed you with his perceived friendliness, he chased you away with his hidden craziness. It made you sad, since you thought you had made a close friend, and you wrote a poem about it- which he found after you published it and used a motivation to try and get you to believe in hope.
"It's amazing you'd write something so beautiful about trash like me," he said. "If I'm truly of any use, I'll be able to make you believe in hope!"
You were beginning to regret attending this school.
Fuyuhiko KuzuryuYou've always been a good sneak. Ever since you were a little kid when you slipped snacks out of the kitchen underneath your mom's nose, you got away with things you shouldn't have all because of your natural ability to turn "invisible". Alongside being a good thief, you're also a skilled eavesdropper, gaining knowledge on people and situations that you wouldn't have known otherwise.
