I was asleep for a couple of hours, then woke up to Adam shaking me a bit."Come on, Love, you gotta get up and eat." He said.
I sighed and sat up, Adam helped me out of bed and I held onto his arms to catch my balance. I laid my head on his chest.
"You ok?" He asked.
"Still have a headache, it's fine," I said.I stood up straight and looked up at him. I smiled, he kissed my nose and we walked out and down to the kitchen.
"You're up, how do you feel?" Mom asked as she and Dad walked over.
"Still have a headache but the twins finally stopped kicking when Adam came home," I said.
"You guys want something to eat? I'm making lunch for Abby." Adam asked.
"That'd be nice, thank you," Dad said.Kyle and jade walked in.
"Hey, guys," Jade said.
Jade wrapped her arms around my shoulders and I laid my head back on her shoulder.
"What did you guys find at South Shore?" I asked.
"Place looked sort of trashed like they were running out to fight a war as the women said," Kyle said.
"We found ash around the grounds, the remains of every one were burned. It looked like everything was still there, I don't think the hunters wanted anything, just wanted to decrease the numbers." Dad said.
"But, we did find this." Adam handed me a book.I took it and looked through the pages.
"It's blank," Jade said.
"No it's not," I said, looking at the Auraric writing in it.
"It's another Auraric book." Mom said, reading it with me.
"That's what we used to teach you Auraric," Dad said.
"I remember this, it was a story about people like us, about a pride full of a bunch of felines like us," I said.
"It wasn't a story. This is what south shore used to be." Mom said.I looked up at Adam.
"South Shore used to be completely Auras?" Adam asked.
"Yeah, then people started getting mates who weren't Aura's, the first time an alpha mated with someone who wasn't an Aura was your grandparents." Mom said, looking at me.
"Mom, why did Daren's parents take over?" I asked.
"How about we talk about this after you eat," Dad said.I looked at them, I nodded and sat up. Adam made lunch and I ate, but not all of it. I felt nauseous and my headache felt like it was getting worse. We went to Adam's office and I sat in a chair in front of his desk.
"What happened?" I looked at mom and dad.
"Your father and I wanted to make a peace treaty. That way, there were no feuds between the prides. Daren's parents believed that if there were a problem between prides, it would be solved through war." Mom started.
"So why fake your murders and do the things they did?" I asked.
"We were going to exile them from the pride, but they got to us first. They came unexpectedly in the middle of the night and knocked us out. When we woke up, we were locked in a cage and you weren't there. They said that since they weren't Auras, they had to keep us alive." Dad said.
"Why?" I asked.
"Only Aura's can be alphas or lunas. You technically only need one." Mom said.I sighed, I leaned my head in my hand and closed my eyes. Adam rubbed my shoulders.
"So how does the aura thing work? If you guys were together does that mean Abby is only half aura?" Jade asked.
"No, aura genes are always dominant and we always have the same amount of power and advantage if both our parents were auras." Mom explained.I grabbed the first book we had and looked through it.
"So how can the books help us?" I asked.
"I don't know, I'll read through them, see what I can find." She said.
