War (part 2)

Adam's POV..

After putting the girls in the safe room, Kyle, Dad, Markus, and I all walked downstairs and outside. I shut my eyes and let out a deep breath. Many warriors were out with us. We all stood along the edge of the forest. I looked out at all the rogues and spotted Daren's parents.

"I know what you did to all of those women, and to Abby's parents. What I don't understand is why you wouldn't want peace among prides." I spoke loud enough for them to hear among the distance between us.
"Peace among prides is unethical and untraditional. Prides have always hashed out their differences in war, it's called natural selection." Daren's father said.
"It doesn't have to be that way. We can benefit from each other instead of killing each other. We can talk through our problems instead of fighting all the time!" I yelled.
"Not in this life." Daren's mother said.
"Then this is a war to end all wars." I said.

The rogues started running towards us and many of the warriors started to fight. I took a couple deep breaths and shifted. I let Raz take control and we ran through the forest, killing any rogue that tried to fight.

Some time into the war, I got this feeling that something was wrong with Abby.

'Abby? Are you alright?' I asked through the mind link.

Another rogue ran up to me and I jumped on it, we fell and I had its neck in my mouth. Raz snapped its neck and I focused back on talking to Abby.

'I'm fine, just the twins worried about you.' Abby answered.
'It's almost over, I'll be back soon.' I told her.

I looked around and didn't see anything. I turned and looked up in the trees. Suddenly, a rogue dropped from one of the trees and tackled me. He sliced my back with one of his claws and I growled. I got him off me and snapped his neck.

'Adam, you alright?' I heard Dad.
'I'm fine. It'll heal. Where are you?' I slowly got up.
'By the east pond.' Dad said.
'I'm on my way, let's end this.' I ran towards them.

Once I got to the pond, I was attacked from above again. I flipped and pinned down who had tackled me. It was Daren. I didn't hesitate to bite his neck and quickly snap it. I sighed. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Markus was thrown into the pond. I ran to the edge and he swam towards me, I pulled him up and we ran to attack whoever had thrown him.

About half an hour had gone by. I was fighting Daren's father. He had somehow grabbed me and threw me at a large rock. I hit the ground and blacked out.

"Adam! Wake up! You're ok!" I heard Kyle and Dad above me.

I opened my eyes and looked around. Everything was bright and blurry. I was still in my panther form.

"Here, shift and throw these on." Kyle set a pair of basketball shorts next to me.

I shifted and slid them on.

"Is it over?" I asked.
"Yeah, it's over. We won." Dad said, patting my shoulder.

I sighed, the warriors around us roared and I immediately felt something wrong with Abby. I looked towards the pride house.

"Something is wrong with Abby," I said.
"What is it?" Markus ran over.
"I don't know," I said.

'Abigail?! What's going on? What's wrong?' I asked through the mind link.
'Adam! The twins are coming now!' Abby cried.
'I'm on my way! Just hang on!' I told her.

"Abby is in labor, we need to go," I said.
"You guys go, we'll help clean up," Dad said.
"Are you sure?" I asked.
"Go, quickly," Kyle said.

Markus and I ran to the safe room as quickly as possible. I practically kicked in the door to get in. Abby was laying on a bunch of blankets and pillows sobbing. I ran over and grabbed her hand.

"Hey, Abby, I'm right here, it's ok," I said, brushing her hair out of her face.
"Adam, she needs to push right now," Hayes told me.
"Come here."

I helped Abby sit up and I sat behind her with my legs on either side of her. I didn't care how much the cut on my back stung against the pillow or how tight Abby was squeezing my hand.

"I'm right behind you," I told her.

Abby laced both her hands with mine and sat up, starting to push. Everyone counted to ten while I rubbed her back and stomach. Abby fell back onto me and I pulled her hair back.

"You're ok, you've got this. I'm right here." I told her, kissing her temple.
"Ready? Push, Abby." Hayes said.

Abby sat up and pushed.

Soon, one of the twins was here and Jennifer cleaned him off as much as possible. I noticed Blue started to show through and Abby laid back on my shoulder.

"Since when can she do that?" Jennifer asked as Abby's parents looked at Abby shocked.
"Long story, tell you later," Jade said.

Kyle and dad ran in and Kyle kissed jades head. She looked up at him and smiled.

"She's almost done, one more twin, and then she'll be done," Jade said.
"Don't push yet, Abby, the other twin is stuck," Hayes said.

Abby started breathing heavier.

"Relax Abby," I said.
"Let her help." She said.

Abby's eyes turned blue.

"She's losing consciousness, Adam," Blue said.
"Shit."

I moved off to the side a bit and laid Abby back on the pillows. I cupped her cheeks in my hands.

"Abby, stay with me. Please don't close your eyes." I said.
"I got her!" Hayes said, handing the other twin to mom.
"I'm ok," Abby said, grabbing my wrists.

I sighed and laid my head on hers.

"They look healthy. Here, Abby."

Jennifer laid one of the twins on Abby's chest, then mom laid the other on the other side. I helped Abby sit up and I sat back behind her. I wrapped my arms around the three of them and laid my head in the crook of her neck. I sighed letting the pain in my head and back take over mostly.

"What are their names?" Tahlia asked.
"I believe we decided Juno for her and Jack for him." I looked down at them.

Abby smiled a bit. I felt Abby kiss my head a couple of times, then I heard Hayes suggest moving them to the maternity ward. I tightened my hold on them a little. Abby turned her head to me.

"How about you hold them for a bit, take them over?" She suggested.

I nodded and moved out from behind her again. I took Jack from her chest and laid him on mine, then Abby laid Juno on my chest next to Jack. I smiled down at them, feeling a tear roll down my face. I stood up with them and Markus picked up Abby. We moved to the maternity ward and mom helped Hayes take them to the back and clean them completely. Markus laid Abby in a bed in a room and I walked in to see her on her side. She looked up at me and smiled. I walked over and laid behind her, wrapping my arms around her. She ended up falling asleep and I fell asleep not long after her.

I woke up to Hayes in front of us with his hand on my shoulder.

"Come on, Adam, let's patch you up." He whispered.

I sighed and nodded. I gently got out of bed, careful not to wake Abby. Hayes stitched my shoulder and a cut on the back of my head. After he was done, I held the twins and sat in the recliner next to the bed, just letting them fall asleep on me.

"I will never let anyone hurt you two, ever. For as long as Abby and I live." I said.

I kissed their heads and smiled.
