When Sandor saw her run out of her bedroom, he followed her silently, not asking what happened. She could tell he was furious at Fitz, and by the way he kept cracking his knuckles menacingly she almost worried for Fitz.
She arrived at the Shores of Solace and ran up to the porch, where Keefe was already waiting. He was sitting on a porch swing with Mrs. Stinkbottom and his box of Keebler cookies. She ran to him, face crumpling as she let herself cry. He gave her a sad smile and when she collapsed sobbing next to him, he said nothing, just let her cry. He wrapped his arms around her hesitantly, then relaxed.
"It'll be okay Foster. It will be fine." he murmured comfortingly. He sent her calming green breezes, and let her sit there, soaking his shirt with snot and tears. When she finally got her sobs under control, she told him everything. How Fitz had gotten mad, and she had tried to forgive him, how when he asked her to apologize, it was the last straw. She told him how she yelled, and how angry she was. Keefe listened quietly until she told him how she broke up with Fitz.
"Wait, what?" he said, eyes widening. She nodded.
"Oh, this is bad, this is really bad," he said. "Now Fitz will hate me too, and this is all my fault Foster, I got between you guys." he bit his lip and ran his hands through his hair nervously.
"It's not your fault," Sophie insisted. "See this is why I am glad I broke up with Fitz. He justnever listened like you do, and always blamed other people for stuff they can't control, and he just...doesn't understand like you do..." Sophie slowed down as she looked atKeefe. He was staring at her with an expression she didn't quite understand. "What?" she asked defensively, crossing her arms. Keefe bit his lip, pondering something. He closed his eyes, as if to brace himself and said,
"I like you Sophie. A lot. I have for a while now but I just didn't want to make your life any crazier than it already is, and I probably just did make it crazier by telling you, but I just couldn't hold it in any more." he looked at nervously, trying gauge her reaction. "I'm sorry I told you, I won't let it make stuff weird between us. You can just forget it, I know you like Fitz.." Sophie put her hand over his mouth, silencing him. She looked at him, and admitted,
"I think I like you too."
