Hi! Sorry for not updating! And also having too many updates! I am not going to update for the next week cause my computer isn't gonna be able too, but as soon as I can I will update! Idk how to write any romance other than sokeefe so sorry if the chapter isn't good. The songs I recommend for this chapter are Me Too by Meghan Trainor, Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato, Dig A Little Deeper from Princess and the Frog, Can I Be Him by James Arthur, There's Nothing Holding Me Back by Shawn Mendes, and Something There from Beauty and the Beast. Honestly each part kinda has a different emotion, so the songs are pretty different, please recommend songs you think would fit!

Fitz's POV

"Hi! I'm Zyfira!" the girl said, "I want to join the Black Swan!" Fitz stared at her, not sure he had heard her correctly. She was pretty, with curly, chin-length blackish-brown hair, tanned skin, and bright blue eyes. But what caught his eye the most was her left arm. He barely registered the scar on her face, too shocked by the fact that half her left arm was missing. She was lithe, like the human dancer he had seen once.

"What?" Biana asked. "You never mentioned that. How do you even know what the Black Swan is?" Zyfira rolled her eyes. Putting her hands on her hips, she said,

"In case you forgot, I was kidnapped by the Neverseen. I heard them talk about you guys. You're their enemies, right? I want to fight the Neverseen. I want payback." Fitz stepped forward. He couldn't believe this girl thought she could just join the Black Swan. How stupid was she?

"You can't join the Black Swan," he said. Zyfira raised her eyebrows, looking him over. Fitz got the feeling she was judging him. He didn't like it. He crossed his arms, and glared at her.

"Why not? You guys need all the help you can get, from what I've heard," she smirked. She was exasperating. Fitz hated how easily she was disarming him. How was she doing it? Fitz felt in over his head. Angered, he snapped,

"Do you even have an ability?" It was clear he had hit a sore spot here, Zyfira blushed but didn't back down. She stepped closer to him, and he blushed. He could count the freckles on her nose, thats how close she was. He cleared his throat and stepped back.

"No. But my elvin skills are pretty powerful, and most elves forget about those." Internally, Fitz rolled his eyes. Did the girl really think elvin skills would do anything against the Neverseen? Against Ruy's force fields? Gisela's plans? Alvar's vanish- no he couldn't think about Alvar. Fitz scoffed at the idea.

"Those can be useful, I saw people use them at Exillium," Tam suggested. Linh nodded in agreement. Why didn't anyone agree with him? Couldn't they see what an awful idea this was? Letting some random person they just met, with no abilities, join the Black Swan? Something was wrong here. Or was he being difficult, like Sophie said? He shook his head. Now was not the time too think about Sophie. Going back to the conversation, he snapped,

"Well, we need powerful people. People who will be useful. How could you help?" He glared at her, sure he had won. He was wrong. Zyfira smirked and levitated into the air. She was the best levitator he had ever seen, completely stable and smooth. She then telekinetically lifted some vials into the air and moved them around in a circle, then put them back. She came back to the ground.

"Why wouldn't I be useful?" she asked him. Fitz felt his face turning red. She was infuriating.

"Let's see. You are Talentless, the Neverseen already managed to kidnap you, and you are still in the Healing Center." Zyfira was still smirking, and everyone else looked skeptical, like they disagreed with Fitz. He clenched his fists. "Oh, what am I forgetting?" he asked, too angry to stop. "You are missing an arm! You're useless!" he said. Zyfira slapped him. He fell backward, shocked. Putting his hand to his cheek, he could feel it swelling. It stung.

"You are the worst person I have ever met. And I was kidnapped by the Neverseen! I thought the Black Swan was all about making all elves equal, with or without abilities. Apparently, I was wrong." she said. Her hands were shaking, and Fitz could see her eyes were wet. He had gone too far. Again.

"No, that is what we are about! We do want to fix that! Fitz was just angry, he wasn't thinking!" Sophie said, shooting a glare at him.

"I agree with Sophie," said Keefe, walking over to her. Sophie blushed. "From what I've heard, the Neverseen have been running in circles around us. I think we need some new people." Everyone nodded in agreement. Fitz couldn't believe this. Why were they agreeing with her? This was reckless!

"May I be included in this decision, perhaps?" Mr. Forkle stepped through the door. "I trust your judgment, but I must first see the extent of Zyfira's powers." Zyfira smiled.

"With pleasure," she said and bowed. She levitated steadily into the air. She then lifted a table (telekinetically) and dropped it right on Fitz, the legs of the table just missed him. He screamed in surprise. Suddenly the lights went out. A moment later, they turned back on, and Zyfira was on the other side of the room, and all the furniture had been moved. She floated down and curtsied. Fitz scooched out from under the table. Ro had entered the room as well and was laughing.

"I guess not all elves suck," she said, high fiving Zyfira. "Pretty boy had it coming! What else did I miss?"

"I slapped him," Zyfira said. Ro started laughing so hard that she had to leave the room, no one could hear Mr. Forkle over her laughter.

"I guess you would be a good addition to the Black Swan." Mr. Forkle admitted. "Sophie, did you check her memories?" Sophie nodded. "Well then, Miss Zyfira, welcome to the Black Swan." Zyfira smiled and shook Mr. Forkle's hand. How was this happening? It had been way more difficult for Fitz to get into the Black Swan! Was Zyfira more trustworthy? Or was Sophie right about him?

"How is telekinesis and levitating going to help us?" Fitz asked. Everyone turned to him and started giggling. Even Mr. Forkle was suppressing a smile.

"What?" Fitz scowled.

"You have something...on your face," Dex said. At this, everyone started laughing, even Tam.

"A little present from me," Zyfira said and blew Fitz a kiss. Fitz blushed and stomped over to a mirror. On his face, Zyfira had somehow drawn a curly mustache, goatee, tilted angry eyebrows, and a heart on his cheek. Across his forehead, she had written IDIOT, in bright pink capital letters. Fitz fumed and tried to say something, but all he could do was splutter. He sat in the corner, silent until the meeting was over. He stomped outside, ready to leap home and plot revenge. As he was reaching for his pathfinder, he saw writing on his hand.

-Zyfira

Fitz couldn't help it, he blushed, staring at the heart. He shook his head. Nope. Zyfira was awful. She was infuriating. She was maddening. She was exasperating. He hated her. Just the thought of her made him angry. But, that night, when he was trying to fall asleep, he stared at the heart until his eyes finally closed.
