-Franks POV-
(Trigger warning: mention of drugs (melatonin to be exact, not risking anything though)A few uneventful weeks passed after that, Gerard and I grew steadily closer and so did Ray and Mikey. The two of them had been together almost as long as me and Gerard. The news of them dating didn't surprise me, I kinda assumed it before.
My guitar sat in my lap, I played a few cords every once in a while, I was mostly tired at the moment.
My phone rang from where it sat by my bed, I reached over and Gerard's name showed up on my screen. I picked up instantly.
"Hey Gee, how are you?" A smile grew over my face, him calling told me he was up, and it was kinda early in the day.
"I don't know, I feel kinda weird Frank..." he trailed off, he sounded confused.
"What do you mean, you feel weird? Can you elaborate on that?" I got up and set down my guitar, pulling on my shoes and jacket.
"Weird as in lost. I don't feel like myself, I feel confused, I feel... weird." My feet carried me out my door and to the car, something was fueling me to go and it wasn't conscious.
"I'll be over in a little bit. You said you feel confused, have you done anything different over this last few days?" I put the phone on speaker and started driving to my boyfriends house.
"No, I haven't left my house at all really other than for school." School was almost over, we only had 3 weeks left to get through and then we were out for the summer.
"That's... weird. Have you been eating and drinking ok?"
"Yeah, I keep water in my room and I've been eating and drinking normally. I've been staying hydrated properly." This wasn't adding up.
"Are you feeling anything else?" An idea was sitting in the back of my head, I refused to let it go any farther than that.
"A little tired, I-" there was a loud sound come from his end of the line. "Frank, how far away are you?" He whispered into the receiver.
"A few houses away, stay were you are and don't hang up." Damnit....
I parked on the street, grabbing my phone and rushing into the house with it to my ear. The window was broken, not a good sign. I heard Gerard's breathing on the other end, that was enough to tell me he was safe.
"Gee, where are you right now?"
"My room, I've got the lights of so be careful." His voice was quiet and still at a whisper. The door to his basement room stood in front of me a few moments later, I opened it. The way he had things set up was familiar to me, I saw a small light across the room.
"Hey, Gee is that you I'm seeing over there?"
"Yeah." I could hear his voice quietly from the other end of the room, I shut the door and walked over to him. He hung up the line as I did so.
The second I reached him I pulled him into a hug, I knew him well enough to know he wouldn't feel safe right now. I wanted him to feel safe, I wanted to protect him.
We sat in silence for a bit before I heard the front door shut. "Gee, is anyone else here right now?" I whispered the words close to his ear, he shook his head no.
"Just you and me, mom went to the store with Mikey and dad had to work today." That wasn't a good sign.
Can I turn on some lights in here? Also how are you feeling?" He got up, keeping his hand firmly around mine.
"Getting more tired, still a bit confused." He turned on a light, my eyes scanned the room. No one else was in there as expected, I took Gerard with me as I looked around a bit more.
"Frank, what are you looking for?" A pill bottle sat in front of me.
"Do you take prescriptions or anything?" He stares at the bottle, his expression becoming more confused if that was even possible.
"No, no one in the family does." I squeezed his hand to reassure him.
"You said you felt tired and confused, is that it?" He nodded, leaning his weight on me a bit. I wrapped my arm around his shoulders, leading him to his bed. His head laid in my lap, and before I knew it he was out like a light.
The thing is, I knew exactly what happened here. I brushed Gerard's hair with my fingers, dialing his moms number. I don't care that she's out, she needs to know what happened.
"Hello, Frank? Is everything alright?" I explained the situation and gave my theory to her, she told me she was on her way and to call my dad and the police. I did just that, then let out a sigh.
Is it to hard to ask for peace? All I want is for Gerard and his family to be safe, I love him and hate him being in danger like this. The bottle of pills sat across from me in the room, melatonin. I'd taken it for a time when I was having nightmares, so I'd come to recognize the bottle.
The sound of my dads car was the first to be heard, he came in the house and yelled my name. I sent a text telling him I was in the basement, a knock was heard shortly after.
"Frank?" My dad peeked into the room, he saw Gerard laying in my lap and understood my actions immediately. "I'll be by the door waiting for his family and the police, yell if you need me ok?"
I nodded as a response, rearranging myself and Gerard so his head laid on my chest. I could feel his heart beating, it calmed me. A small smile set on my face, I leaned back against his pillows and played with his hair. The boy was peaceful when he slept, not just that but also cute. I was lucky to have him, and have no intention of giving him up.
Gerard's mom and brother arrived about 5 minutes later, then the police. I explained the situation again, starting at the call up to the current time. The police took the medicine from the room, my dad agreed with me that it was likely melatonin from the bottle.
The label was faded, but it wasn't hard to make out. I kept my arms around Gerard the whole time, I was going to keep him safe- no matter what the cost might be.Song of the chapter: panic room
