it's game day. the first game of the season, my last first volleyball game of my high school career and, the game against a team that is out for revenge.
i woke up feeling good and hype. i don't know why but i always get excited for game days and i can barely sleep the night before. i got ready and since it was game day we had to dress nice so i wore a white tight dress, my letterman jacket over (since we had to wear it) and some j's to match.
i put my hair into two french braids but stopping the french braid at the crown of my head and normal braided the rest of the way. next i put all my essentials into my duffel bag. which include shoes, braces, extra clothes, warmups, hydro flask, some rx bars, socks, knee pads, slides, gum and, a hairbrush.
after everything was ready i made my way downstairs.
"ITS GAME DAY!" kayson yelled causing kalea and kyler to scream in celebration.
everybody was hype and i grabbed my breakfast. which was a breakfast burrito. as i sat down eating my siblings were talking about how excited they were for the game and what i need to do to help us win. there's always a lot of pressure on me but i kind of gotten used to it. i take losses very hard though.
once i got to school everybody was hype. the girls and i were very excited and everybody was dressed up in their blue and white for warrior pride.
the school day went by fast surprisingly. us varsity girls had to set up the net while JV was warming up. after we all went to the locker room to get ready. carsyn started playing music from her speaker while we were getting ready. we were all dancing in the locker room getting ready.
i put my hair into a ponytail and made sure to tie my lucky ribbon to it. then i changed into my uniform, we were wearing my favorite today the blue ones. then i put on my braces and slid into my warmups after. i didn't want to put my shoes on yet so i used my slides. i grabbed an rx bar and my hydro and went back into the gym. there was a lot of people there considering it was only jv. us varsity had to sit behind their bench and lead the cheers.
"so are you ready?" carsyn asked.
"yeah i'm so ready what about you?" i asked.
"yep but i'm kind of nervous, we lost to them last year and they only lost one senior." she said.
"yeah true but we got this, our hard work this summer is for sure going to pay off, we just gotta work together. you know where i like my sets anyways." i winked
"that's true and yes i do you like them off and high." she laughed and rolled her eyes
"i miss them car, i wish they were here." i sighed.
"hey they're always here remember? they're watching."
"yeah but i don't know it's not going to be the same playing without them." i said tearing up.
"hey whatever happens on that court today sets the tone for the rest of the season. just go out and do what you do best. they're going to be watching and they're proud of us." she said reassuringly.
"you're right, thanks for that i needed it."
"no problem keeks love you always."
"love you always too carcar and dang the crowd is hype today" i said as they erupted into cheers.
"yessss for realll! i think because it's the first game of the season and you know it kinda sets the tone for the rest of the season." carsyn said.
"for sure! if they're loud for jv i wonder how loud they're going to be for us!" i said.
"i bet super loud that we prolly won't be able to hear coach. anyways wanna go back into the locker room?"
