today's the day. the last first day of my high school volleyball career. i woke up feeling energized and in such a good mood. i walked downstairs and all my siblings were already up.
"hey there captain!" kyler said and winked.
"one, don't ever wink again and two, that's not set in stone yet." i said.
"oh please you were the first ever sophomore to be a captain of the volleyball team, i think you'll be captain for your last year."
"the team votes, what if they don't vote for me this year." i shrugged.
"don't say that keeks, you're such an amazing player and a good leader i doubt that they'd pick someone else." kalea said.
"yeah what she said." kay son said agreeing while kyler nodded.
"whatever just give me food i'm hungry." i rolled my eyes jokingly and laughed.
kalea set an açaí bowl in front of me. i looked up at her and she could already read my mind.
"no chocolate chip pancakes during season unless you win games remember." she said.
"fine fine fine." i said while taking a bite of my açaí bowl.
"so are you ready to play? it's totally fine if you aren't because of you know." kalea said
"i'm ready, it's just going to be a hard season without them. i miss them more and more everyday but i know they're going to be there watching us."
"that's the way to think. they're always going to be there no matter what. they're proud of you guys you know." kalea smiled.
i smiled back and continued eating.
after breakfast i got ready for school. i grabbed my backpack and duffel bag and headed to school. once i got there i was instantly bombarded by my team.
"heeyyyy captain keeks you ready for this season?" carsyn asked.
"i'm not captain yet car." i replied.
"oh pleaseeee you've been captain since sophomore year and you're such a great captain i don't think anybody will vote for anyone else." she said while patting me on the back.
"yeah okay." i smiled.

carsyn and i were in the locker room getting ready for practice. we were looking at the schedule from the upcoming season it was crazy. we had our first game in two week, a whole bunch of tournaments and, we had back to back weekend home games. not to mention that one of them is senior night.
we walked into the gym and was instantly greeted by coach peter.
"there are my girls!" she said smiling at us.
"hey coach." we said at the same time as we set our water bottles on the table.
"so are you guys ready for you last season?" she asked.
"i don't know its crazy how we're seniors already, it feels like we just set foot in this gym as freshman." i said.
"yeah it was crazy being freshman even though we were only floaters that's year." carsyn said.
"well let's make the best out of this last season we have together." she smiled and gave us a hug.

the first day wasn't to bad for me. all those summer workouts and practices really helped get me in shape. i sat in my car in the starbucks drive thru texting my family how practice went when i heard a knock on my window. it startled me n i dropped my phone into my lap.
