it's travel week. our first out of state tournament. it's crazy because we have 4 trips back to back so we're basically traveling the rest of august and half of september. i loved out of state tournaments though. they really got our names out there and it's always nice to have some new competition. this week we were going to play in washington.
i did my usual morning routine and headed to school. once i got to school i made my way to my locker.
"hey keeks ready for this week?" i heard someone say to me.
i turned around and it was braylynn. "yep i'm excited first out of state tournament of the season. we gotta kick some ass in washington"
she smiled "of course we do! gotta keep the win streak alive. teams are coming for us and we're nationally ranked so we got huge targets on our backs"
"for sure, just gotta play together and keep the energy up because we tend to not play good when one of us gets mad" i laughed.
"true true" she said as we made our way to class.
~skip to lunch~
i sat at the usual table meeting up with everybody. we were all talking about the trip and how excited we were. then all of a sudden someone screamed "OH MY GOSH!" which caught the whole cafeterias attention.
we all went to go check it out. a girl she looked new accidentally got her lunch all over Amber the school slut.
"YOU DUMB ASS WATCH WHERE YOURE GOING!" she yelled about to slap her.
i quickly ran and grabbed her hand stopping her from hitting the poor girl.
"it's not nice to hit people." i said sternly letting go of her hands.
"but this dumb bitch poured her lunch all over me!" she shrieked.
"it's also not nice to call people names. it clearly was an accident so why can't you let her be after all she apologized." i said.
"no she ruined my outfit and my hair and now i'm going to have to change clothes and will smell like pizza the whole day!" amber yelled.
"it was an accident get that through your thick skull. and if you have a problem with her then you're going to have a problem with me too." i said. then she did it. she slapped me.
"i've already had problems with you" she smirked.
"oh you did not." i looked at her sternly.
"oh but sweetie i did." she said as her possy showed up behind her.
i grabbed her hair and pulled it so that she felt pain and her ear was right next to my mouth. "do that one more time and something bad will happen. now if i were you i'd let this poor girl be and leave us alone." i said sternly then pushed her to the ground.
she got up and as i was about to turn around to go talk to the girl she jumped on me and started punching me. so i flipped her over and did the same before i felt people pull me off her. it was her possy and they started hitting me too. soon the girls pushed them off of me and kicked them while i stood up kicking amber in the side.
"leave." i said sternly.
she then left with her possy and everybody started cheering. i turned around to see the poor girl and good thing my friends were already around her to see if she was okay.
"i'm sorry about her she needs to be put in her place sometimes" i said.
"thank you so much for that. are you okay? and it's okay but this isn't what i imagined my first day to be like." she laughed shyly.
"you're welcome and yes i'm fine probably just going to get a few bruises but nothing i can't handle. and i don't think anybody imagines this on their first day. anyways i'm kianna what's your name?" i asked.
"i'm leila." she smiled and shook my hand.
"so what grade are you in?" i asked.
"i'm a sophomore."
"oh cool, why don't you come sit with us? that way nobody bothers you!" i gestured.
she smiled and gladly accepted. the rest of lunch all of us got to know her and she's really chill. she plays basketball which is cool.
~skip to after school~
"kianna dela cruz and leila johnson to the office please" i heard on the speaker.
i looked at carsyn and said "i bet that amber told on us and what happened." i rolled my eyes after.
once we got to the office they showed us to the principles office. we looked at each other reassuringly and sat down.
"so i heard that there was a little fiasco during lunch today" mr. smith said sternly.
"well let me explain what happened. i was getting my lunch and i was looking for a place to sit since i'm new you know. and then i accidentally tripped causing my lunch to spill on that amber girl i think her name is. then she blows the whole thing out of proportion after i've said sorry multiple times and said it was an accident. then kianna came to the rescue before she was about to hit me. then they bickered and amber hit kianna so kianna obvisouly defended herself." leila said explaining.
"well that is a completely different story than what amber had told me." mr. smith replied.
"mr. smith that is 100% the truth you can ask like the whole volleyball team and basketball team! literally they saw what happened as well as the rest of the cafeteria!" i said.
"okay i believe you kianna. only because i know you are a good student and wouldn't do anything bad on purpose. as for you leila i'm sorry that your first day of school here had to go down like that." he said.
"it's okay at least i made some friends." she smiled.
"alright i will be talking to amber you two are free to go." he said.
we both walked out and talked about what had just happened.
"i can't believe she lied about what happened" leila said.
"oh believe it that's just how she is. but hey i gotta go to practice i'll see you tomorrow alright? " i laughed.
i changed and looked myself in the mirror a bruise had formed on my lower cheek and had a few scratches on my arms. once i got to practice everybody was already finishing their warm ups.
"kianna you're late" coach said.
"i'm sorry coach i got called to the principles office." i said.
she looked at me with a look and i had explained to her what happened. long story short she was proud that i stood up for leila and said since i had a valid reason to be late to practice i didn't have to run.
after practice i went home. as i opened the door everybody was there. the boys their girlfriends and my siblings. it was a little awkward cuz once they heard me they had stopped talking and looked at me.
"so we heard what happened today." kyler said sternly.
"what did you hear exactly?" i asked.
"well we heard that you got into a fight." he said.
"did you win?" kalea said.
"i guess you could say that." i said.
then they all started cheering. which caused me to laugh. then they came up and greeted me with hugs.
"you are incredible for doing what you did" daniel said hugging me.
"so tell us how it all went down." kalea said.
i told them what had happened and they were happy that i stuck up for leila and won the fight. somehow someone got a video and posted it online which is how the boys found out. they had come over to check on me.
we all talked for a little bit until it got late and they went home since i had school tomorrow. today was such an eventful day.
