"Here we are. Are you nervous?" Hyunjin stares at me as I scan the inside of Blondies from my place outside the glass doors.
"No."
"You're a bad liar." I look over at him, his eyes glowing with their usual sparkle.
"Great. That's exactly what I needed to hear, right now." I run an anxious hand through my hair.
"Hey." Hyunjin takes both of my hands in his. "You have nothing to worry about. Remember that we are to get you help, not to judge you."
I roll my eyes and let my hands slip out of his. "I wish I could believe you." I look back into the small diner. "Alright, are you ready?"
"I should be asking you that." Hyunjin reaches past me and opens the door, holding it open so I can go in.
I hesitated before stepping into the establishment, Hyunjin following close behind me.
"So, where is this guy?" I watch as Hyunjin scans the people in the diner, smiling slightly when his eyes locked on a certain table.
"Shall we?" He holds out his hand, which I take and let him lead to the far corner, where a man is sitting alone in a booth. "Chan." At the sound of his name, the man's head snaps up and suddenly the butterflies became a group of lions trapped in a cage. A very, very small cage.
I should have known.
"Hyunjin." Chan stood up and shook his hand, the other one loosening it's grip enough to let me rip my hand free. "And Miss Seo." I stare into his eyes, but they were just as cold as before. "We've got to stop meeting like this."
"You guys know each other?" I didn't have to look at Hyunjin to know he was already staring at me.
"Yeah, we've met a few times here before. Y/N ended up spilling a coffee all over me." Chan cracks a laugh, bringing fake authenticity to his words.
"That sounds like Y/N." Hyunjin laughs too, unaware of the storm brewing between me and Chan.
"Okay, so let's get started, shall we?" It took me a second to nod, unaware that he was talking to me. "Hyunjin, I'm going to suggest that you sit down at a table elsewhere. For privacy reasons."
Hyunjin sighs and walks away, but I could still feel his eyes on me. Chan slides into the booth and gestures for me to do the same in the one across.
Once I sat down on the cool leather, Chan takes out his notepad, already scribbled with random words and notes. "Well, I guess we should start of with the basics." He clasps his hands together and lean forward so his forearm is resting on the wooden table. "How are you, Y/N?"
How am I?
How long has it been since I've heard that question? Two months? Three?
"I'm good."
"If you were good you wouldn't be here." Chan is quick to shut down my short response.
I let out a short sigh. "Well, I thought I was good. But, lately, everything is pointing in the opposite direction."
Chan nods and I'm waiting for him to reach for his pen, but his hand doesn't move. "How so?"
I try not to look at him, to keep my gaze locked on his hands. "For a while I was coping normally, if there is such thing, and right when I started to get better, things just began to go downhill. This guy I really liked left and I don't know if he's ever coming back. And then Hyunjin showed up, who I haven't seen in a year, maybe two. I can't even remember." I massage the bridge of my nose, surprised that I felt a head ache coming on instead of tears.
