- "you know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams"
The days that followed were quiet, she had spent them creating art and writing. There was a bench outside by the pool and she would sit there with her laptop and her materials listening to music looking at nature. That's what she was doing right now, she was typing away it was lunchtime and Rhea just went inside after hanging by the pool sunbathing.
She was eating a sandwich she made when her phone beeped. It was a message from James, he was asking how she was. They had been messaging each other constantly and she missed him terribly, that feeling terrified her. He was apparently, outside the state for an important meeting and was coming back the day after tomorrow. She also had a message from André, she furrowed her eyebrows at it 'hope you are ready bitch!' he said and she dialled him immediately. 'Hi bitch!' he answered, 'hey bitch, what did you mean with that message you sent me?' she asked. 'Well, me and Cara were bored and decided to finally come' he simply said and she let out an excited squeal, giving him instructions on the road they should follow. They were nearby and were coming with Cara's car. She was so excited this summer wouldn't be boring after all, not that it was anywhere near that as light brown eyes, almost golden clouded her mind.
Soon there was the sound of screeching car tires, a loud beep that awoke her from her trace and she rushed out to welcome them. Even Rhea seemed to be glad they were coming, she got along really well with André. Well, everyone loved him. They hugged and chatted for a bit, trying to catch up on what they missed. After unloading the car they entered the house and Faith showed them to the guest room they would be sharing. It was located on the ground floor and was big enough to accommodate the two of them. Her father didn't have any issue with them coming when she had asked him a month ago, as long as they were good kids, he said.
After talking for a while and eating the sandwiches she prepared for them, she had let them unpack and rest for a bit. When the afternoon came she had promised to show them around the square of the town. They had sat down for coffee and were talking about what they had been up to. Suddenly a familiar face passed and greeted her, she realised it was Cole from the other day. Cara leaned towards her after he left 'who is that?' she whispered yelled.
'That is Cole' she replied and both their attention on her with questioning eyes, as if saying go on. A genuine smile appeared on her face 'that is James friend' she told them. André gave a look at Cara and turned to her 'and where is this James of yours, won't he be joining us?' he asked. Faith shook her head and explained that he was on a business trip. They cornered her until she spilt every little detail about him.
And after the interrogation they finished their coffee and headed back to the house. The next day was the hottest of the year and they spent it lousing by the pool, André was really red as he didn't put any sunscreen on and the girls made fun of him. Her sister was hanging out with them and Kerian was in the town meeting with his friends. Her father nowhere to be seen as usual.
Faith was feeling content at having her best friends with her, they didn't spent nearly enough time together this summer and this was their chance. André had gone inside to shower and apply ointment, Rhea and Cara were talking about her new boyfriend. Cara met him in Europe where she was studying and had to leave him for the summer. That's what she was saying to Rhea 'we talk all the time but it's not the same you know, and I trust him I do' she nodded. Then looked at Faith 'I just feel like when I go back nothing would be the same'. Faith put a hand on her shoulder in comfort 'if you want to see him so bad maybe you can go back for a few weeks'.
The sheepish look Cara gave her said it all, she was already thinking of doing that 'god I need a drink' she said instead. Then it was Rhea's eyes plastered on Faith and she smirked 'well, you should ask Faith on where to go'. Upon hearing Faith's eyes bulged and she stared at her sister intently, 'why would you say that?' asked Cara. 'Her boyfriend owns a club, isn't that right Faith?' Rhea answered the previous question and Faith was at a loss of words, not that her sister was actually waiting for an answer.
Faith paled and quietly defended 'he is not my boyfriend'. 'Yet' that was what Rhea said and stared at her, then let out laugh 'don't look at me like that, I'm not going to tell Kerian for now'. 'What's going on?' questioned Cara who was looking from one to the other, 'does Kerian not like this guy?' she asked, 'and that's putting it lightly' Rhea answered. With a final look she sighed, got up and headed back inside leaving the other two in complete silence.
Faith was stunned and Cara gave her a look, 'what?' she had asked her. 'It seems to me this summer is going to get a hell of a lot more interesting' said Cara and pulled her sunglasses back on. Then tilted her head and peaked at Faith over then looking straight into her eyes 'so when are we going to your boyfriend's club?' she asked her cheekily.
By the time they went back inside it was afternoon and after showering she went back down to the guest room. She found André laying on the bed and Cara was applying ointment on his back. Cara had told him about the conversation earlier, 'so you mean that she knows everything?' and the she nodded laying on the bed as well. 'I thought this entire time that they didn't know I was seeing him' she told them. 'When is he coming from that trip?' André asked her and after telling him tomorrow they decided that they would be going out the evening, to see what all the fuss was about, André's words.
That is how Faith found herself at the entrance of his club again, texting on her phone telling James that they had arrived. This time her siblings didn't come along and she was glad, she needed some time alone with her friends. As they entered the music was blazing, the club was packed with sweating bodies moving to the beat. They pushed through the people until they reached the bar and she was looking around for him. This time she felt different, she felt more like herself, if that makes sense, it was because she was with her friends.
Her and Cara were matching, both wearing short black dresses and after checking her phone one more time they ordered drinks. He hadn't replied to her yet, he must have been busy. She had already told him that they were coming when the spoke earlier. She was dancing with her friends like old times. And after the barman told Faith that their drinks were free courtesy of James of course, André was gulping down drink after drink. She was sure that he would pass out at one point. Feeling eyes on her she looked around then up and there he was on the balcony watching her, always watching her.
Her dancing continued and she was waiting for him to make a move, to come to her on his own. She turned around and continued dancing, suddenly warm hands travelled her body around her hips and she didn't panic nor turn around. She knew exactly who it was, she felt it.
They wrapped around her waist and pulled her to his toned chest possessively. She smiled to herself and turned to him placing her hands on his shoulders. Her friends gave her knowing looks when she peered behind him and continued dancing with each other. Her hand was stroking his chest, she couldn't control herself she wanted all of him.
There was this feeling inside of her that seemed to be awaken by his presence and after being apart it only intensified. They kept dancing with each other as time flowed, until André was passed out and they had to leave. He had helped them putting him in the car and Faith introduced him to Cara since André was too far lost to be able to comprehend anything. And after he kissed Faith one last time they left.
It was early morning hours when she was finally in bed and she was thinking about him, about the way his gave was transfixed on her all night. She wondered if it was too soon to be feeling this strong for someone and soon she was slipping into darkness. Her phone beeped she had a text and it was from James.
'I wish that tonight I could have had you in my office like last time instead' it read and there was a smile on her face as she slept.
