- "you keep telling me I am free to go but I am addicted to you"
This was not how it was supposed to be, his face in his hands trying really hard to calm down and not really succeeding. He was in his office, his mind replaying everything that had happened the past few hours how it all escalated to the point that Faith, his Faith, was not answering her phone. The sun had already dipped down and still no word from her, he hated how things were left between them.
His phone beeped and he quickly answered it hoping it was her, it wasn't. Cole's deep voice was heard instead 'her father got word of the fight' his tone serious he paused for a moment hesitating, 'and she has left town' his breathing stopped at that. He swallowed deep 'are you sure?', 'yes she left with her friends that came at the club that day'. His heart sank, she left. He pressed her name on his phone again, 'the number you have dialed is not...' he sighed and pressed the end button once more.
Her hair was flowing everywhere but she didn't mind, the sun was shining on her tear stained face reminding her that this feeling of hopelessness was only temporary. She closed her eyes for a moment and thought of him, of his beautifully sculpted face, and she wished that they had never left that bedroom. This was supposed to be André's and Cara's last day there, their bags were already packed and upon hearing what had transpired insisted on her coming back home with them. There was this nagging feeling inside her, she couldn't just leave.
It was night time when they arrived to the nearest town, Faith needed time to think and André thought that this was a great opportunity for a road trip. They had stopped at this lovely small hotel and rented a room for the night, thankfully the bed was a queen size and could fit all three of them. Cara was a supportive friend bringing vodka that she had bought earlier and André was downstairs at the vending machine trying to bring as much candy as he could. By her third drink Faith was singing along a Dido song, André was sitting at the floor hugging a bottle of vodka and Cara was laying next to Faith on the bed chewing on HARIBO's.
A ray of light hit Faith right in the face, she forced her eyes open and groggily looked around. Her head was pounding so hard she wobbled across the room trying not to fall, her foot hit something at the same time a loud moan of complain was heard and she cursed. André was on the floor pretending to be a starfish, he must have slept like that all night. She kneeled on the floor apologised and he had fallen asleep right after, she entered the bathroom. While she was washing her face the door opened suddenly and Cara appeared her long hair was tangled 'what the hell happened last night?', Faith shook her head 'I have no idea'. Then Cara leaned back a bit and looked straight at André, 'I can't even remember half of it' Faith laughed at that.
By the time their passed out friend woke up it was almost lunchtime, the girls had already got breakfast and there was a coffee waiting for him. They had stopped at a McDonald's on their way back to Rhododendron and Faith had asked them to drop her off at the club. She chewed on her lip the nervousness she felt was overwhelming her, even so she took a deep breath and entered. Before she could even take a proper step inside a loud bang startled her, she hurried to his office. The first thing she noticed was the mess, 'Faith, you came back!' her head turning at this she had completely missed Cole's presence inside the room.
Her face showed the confusion she felt 'huh?', then a sound of something breaking made them both turn towards the commotion in the bedroom. She turned to Cole again, 'where is he?' was her question and Cole gave her a look that confirmed her thoughts. 'He thought you left' he justified and Faith gave him an astonished look, 'and he had to destroy his entire office?' she threw back and made her way in the bedroom. The sight before her made her heart ache, James was being held back unable to control himself. Something had taken over him, he was looking right at her but not really seeing her.
'Faith listen to me, you are the only one that can calm him down' her eyes stopped at Cole who was standing next to her. Her face must have portrayed what she was thinking, before she could reply he cut her off, 'he wouldn't hurt you, never you'. She took a deep breath and slowly approached James who was fighting back, this ache she felt only grew the more she looked at him. His expression was so pained she couldn't fathom why, without thinking her hand reached out and lightly touched his cheek.
His eyes abruptly opened and he stared right at her, she gasped at how dark they were. Her name left his lips and her only instinct was to hug him, so she did. They stayed there for so long she had leaned on his shoulder, he was breathing on her neck. 'I wish things were simpler' she whispered and his hand tangled in her hair more caressing her being.
'Nothing that is worth fighting for is ever simple' he affirmed hugging her closer.
