‘Why did I let him go?’
Some days had passed since the last encounter between the supreme leader and the detective, but Shuichi couldn't stop asking himself the same question over and over again. Why didn't he stop the boy? Why did he let him leave again? What was the thing that was holding him from arresting the small liar? Why did he get attached to people so easily?

These questions were stressing Saihara out, he felt like he wanted to cry. He had worked so hard so he could finally finish his job and catch Kokichi, but, once he was literally standing next to him several times, he just let him run away. Why was he so dumb? So easy to manipulate? So easy to get emotionally controlled?

The golden eyed male got up from his bed, deciding it would be better to go for a walk so he could empty his head a bit. He went down the stairs, but stopped dead when he saw the two armchairs he and Ouma had pulled together. Because of this, the annoying questions started invading his thoughts again, and it wouldn't leave him alone.

"Damn it..." Shuichi mumbled. He made his way toward the kitchen and unplugged his phone, which he had left charging during the night and, now, was at a full battery. He unlocked it and saw a notification. The boy clicked on it.

>Kaito
Hey Shuichi! how ya
doin'?

Hello Kaito, sorry for not
answering, I was still sleeping.

No worries man!
Kaede and I heard of a
new café opening near your
house and were planning to meet
there, would you like to come as well?

Sure! I'd love to.

Great! See you at 1pm then!

The boy sighed as he stared at the clock, it was ten in the morning, there were three hours left before the meeting. He decided to pass the time doing some investigations, specially to get his mind off Ouma for some hours.

••••••••••••••••••••

Shuichi ran a hand through his hair before closing the different files and picking up the papers that were spread among the desk. He looked at the time, 12:10 pm.

"Better get ready..." He murmured to himself and made his way up the stairs.

He took a quick shower and changed into a black shirt, with a greenish coat on top, black jeans and a pair of grey trainers.

The tall male grabbed his wallet and put in his pocket, picked up the keys and unlocked the door. It was cloudy, grey clouds were covering the light blue sky, the wind was a bit stronger than usual, which meant that there was a big possibility that a storm was coming very soon, but Shuichi didn't mind and left his umbrella behind.

He walked down the street, passing through a vending machine, which reminded him of Kokichi. He wondered what the small boy could be doing at that moment. Maybe he was stealing something, or, what if he was hurting people right now? That single thought sent shivers down the detective's spine, and he couldn't help but feel guilty. If people were being tortured by the purple haired criminal, the golden eyes male would never be able to forgive himself.

And just like that, the annoying questions popped up in his head again. He fastened his pace, wanting to arrive to the café as fast as possible and distract himself.
