It was a few weeks later when Jimin decided to take a walk again. As a matter of fact, he ran into Yoongi for the fourth time that month. That, he had to admit, was surprising. It had taken him three years to even acknowledge the boy's whole existence. He thought that it would be at least another few weeks until the latter caught his attention again.
Turns out his expectations were wrong, as they always are.
They'd actually bumped shoulders again, Yoongi smiling as they did so. It was almost as if he expected it to happen. Or did it on purpose.
Ah, early morning shoulder bumping. Just what Jimin needed to wake up. Actually, it kind of hurt. Good thing that Yoongi didn't spill his freshly made coffee onto Jimin's new sweatshirt sleeves.
A new sweatshirt. What a concept.
It was almost as if he did that on purpose, but Jimin had dropped his books. Of course, it just had to be the cliché meeting. Except it was real life and not some horribly absurd television show that's far too dramatic to be real life.
He looked surprisingly tired, bags under his eyes. His eyes were a little droopier than they had been the former time the two had met, but he was still looking happier than ever, which Jimin didn't think could be possible, yet here he was.
He existed, so that was proof that a soul almost as bright as Hoseok existed on his premise. Unbelievable. He'd found himself another hyper friend that he was incapable of taking care of.
"Hello!" Yoongi was the first one to speak, obviously on his way somewhere. He clutched a bag in one hand, a coffee cup in the other. Jimin assumed there was a laptop or some sort of equipment in the bag, since every time he started walking he was careful not to bump it into anything.
"What brings you here so early?"
Jimin was about to ask the same question and answer it when his brain decided to intervene. He found himself frowning.
Coffee, huh?
So they shared the same interests?
Kind of?
We share the same interests? Oh wait— nevermind.
Instead of reprimanding himself for getting distracted, Jimin flashed a smile. Just like the ones he always did when he was trying to look better than he actually did. He was feeling in a great mood since he had messaged Jeongguk the night before, even though it was just a simple reply of "good night". But what mattered was that it was enough to make him happy.
Not the type of happy like giddy, just happy.
Happy that he finally replied.
Jimin was starting to feel lonely. Maybe not starting, but more like he'd been lonely.
"I was just going out for a walk." As always, his mouth talked instead of his brain. "I like to go early in the morning to get coffee since no one is there."
"Ah, me too." Yoongi said, holding up his cup. He smiled, gums showing. Jimin didn't know what it was, but a beam of sun was casted down on him. For some reason, he felt like smiling forever.
But it wasn't because of Jeongguk.
But why? Because he'd finally found the source of his annoying problem? Probably.
The only annoying thing about this annoying problem was its annoying source. He couldn't possibly reprimand Yoongi. He was too bubbly and well-mannered to even understand what was going on in Jimin's head.
He's too pure to know.
Jimin's thoughts were cut off by a tap.
Tap.
