Jeongguk stood at the window, looking down toward the patio where Taehyung was standing. The elder boy held a cup of cocoa which he was sipping, a soft smile on his face as he watched the sky. The pretty clouds faded into the distance, where the sun was beginning its low rise on the dark canvas, painting the sky full of color.
It had been this way for a long time since Jeongguk went there; it happened every morning, as a normal occurrence. Taehyung put on his finger gloves at ungodly hours of the morning and went to watch the sunrise.
Unlike what had happened recently, he was relaxed.
The younger boy often found himself wondering what he was thinking about, just the small things. He owed a large amount to the boy for skipping his morning exercise just to take care of him during the time that he was sick. Even if the older found it necessary, he still owed him something.
Sometimes, Jeongguk just happened to be up and decided to watch him. He was normally wide awake at that point in the morning. He liked to watch him, for the serenity with which he held himself brought great peace to his mind before the day started.
It was becoming a cycle.
The young boy dried his eyes with his comforter which was wrapped securely around his shoulders, one hand clutching the curtain to prevent it from slipping and blocking his view. Whenever the elder smiled, Jeongguk found himself smiling too.
It was just the effect that Taehyung had. They were good friends, and they made each other happy when they were together. Looking upon that aspect of everything made him feel better, that he had someone to get through his days with.
He guessed everyone who had a friend like Taehyung felt that way.
It had been a few weeks since the time he left, but he couldn't help but wonder why the relationship between him and Jimin had gotten worse. For the months that they were together, he meant. At first, the time they spent was perfect, but now, it only resulted in problems for the both of them.
They'd been fine when Jeongguk moved in, but now they were already split apart. He knew that couples were bound to have fights, but were they ever this large?
Did they ever end up this bad? He hoped that the answer was no, because he didn't want other people to be going through the same pain as him. But no matter how much he denied it, he knew that it was true and that it would happen inevitably.
He had a feeling that they were hiding things from each other. Well, he knew for certain that he was hiding things from Jimin, but he was fairly certain there was something that the older needed to tell him.
Jimin probably had something to tell him that shouldn't be hidden. They should've been able to work it out together, but that, for some reason, was the part of everything that made him uneasy. Thinking that wanting to know what was beyond his grasp scared him to the point of losing the older boy.
Jimin sometimes refused to talk, wanting more time to think things over, but what if this was it?
He felt like he was the one overthinking everything, while Jimin was perfectly content to be by himself.
Until he decided to send a simple "good night" message. He didn't even send Jimin any birthday wishes because he was worried the other would only be angry with him.
After all, Jeongguk was the one who had wanted this whole thing in the first place. He was the one to blame for them separating.
He sighed and continued staring at Taehyung, who seemed to have taken interest in a plant that was sitting nearby. He envied the boy, wishing that he had enough energy and time to be able to smile at all the plants in his garden simply because he wished they would grow.
