I cant wait to go to the beach, its where I feel more at ease, everything is at harmony, and everything makes me happy (well almost everything).
My parents are still asleep, but i'm to eager to see the beach, so i just write a note and leave.
I walk down the stairs and get out of the lobby wearing my black bikini and an oversize t-shirt over it.
The beach is practically in front of the apartment buildings. i cross the parking lot and the road and walk down the long stairs. I can already feel the sand in my toes and the wild sea in front of me.
i get a little closer to the sea and i open my beach umbrella and stick it on the ground. next, i get my blue beach towel and spread it on the ground.
since I seem to be the only one this early on the beach i take my book out, i used o read all the time on the beach, but now i'm scared that Andrew will muddle my books. i need to keep them away from him.
Just as i was going to start reading i feel a a little sand in my hair, or a lot of sand, oh man, i know who this is.
- Hello nerd. Missed me?
He says
- not really dickhead.
Andrew spreads his towel next to mine and sits down with that nasty smirk that i hate so much.
- so, you want to go to the ocean and wash that up?
- no way. so you you can drawn me?
- Maybe
His smile quickly fades when we start hearing small screams from behind us.
- Andrew honey, why didn't you text me back last night? how was school this year? this year i. oh hey Emily, didn't see you there.
Now its my time to smirk, i know how much he hates this, how much Madison exhausts him. He told me that once, in one of those rare days we were actually getting along.
- of course you didn't, you only have eyes for mister dickhead, i mean, Andrew.
I answer in a monotone.
- well that's true. Your hair looks horrible sweetie.
- i know.
Not long after, Dan and Sean come down together.
- hey guys, wanna go for a swim.
- yeah sure. what happened to your hair?
Sean asked.
- Andrew happened.
- Oh
Of course he doesn't seem surprised at all. Sean and Andrew hang out all the time back in school, nothing really surprises him.
- come on! lets go, i need to get this sand off my hair. Also, i think Andrew and Madison need some time together. Right Andrew?
- what no. i mean, i want to go to, what about we go to the cliffs?
- I do miss the cliffs a great lot, but who is going to take care of our stuff? And meanwhile our parents might come, they'll get worried.
Dan opposes. truth is, he is terrified of the cliffs, even tho we have all been going there since we were little kids. He knows this is a battle he can't win, no one can resist a trip to the cliffs. not even Madison, and she is engrossed of every animal in the world.
- we'll text them, and there is no one here yet, we all came really early guys, i mean, i always wake up early but you people, are SO lazy.
i say
- well you do have a point there
Dan painfully gives up.
As we walk on the beach and catch up, i'm still trying to get some of the sand out f my hair, but it really isn't going my way , i guess we have to wait until we get there.
A bit more walking on the beach and we finally get to the first rocks, getting to 'the cliffs' is not an easy job, but its worth it, we climb up some rocks until we see the first cave. we go trough the pretty small whole and meet with our favorite part of the beach. most people have no idea this place exists so its like our private natural beach, we found this place when we were 7 and we named it the 'big rock'. there are a lot of other caves, and we always discover new ones, but this one is the biggest and the nearest so we always come here.
i quickly take my t-shirt off, throw it on the ground and jump to the water, followed by all the others.
the feeling of the salty water all around me feels so familiar and relaxing, we all start splashing each other and talking.
- so later tonight you guys want to go have dinner at Johns pizzas?
Andrew suggests.
- yeah, that's a great idea.
We all start discussing what time to meet up.
With the corner of my eye i see a beautiful seashell, it looks so polished and perfect, i almost looks like its shining. I dive into the water, and try to grab it, but it looks like its getting further away from me, with one last movement i finally catch it and go back to the surface. except, there is no one there. Where is everyone? they were right next to me one second ago!!
I slowly walk out of the water. Are they playing a prank on me? No way, where could they go so suddenly?
This cave looks exactly the same with the exception that i has no exit, so that has to mean its not the same cave. how did i end up here? i was was right next to them just second ago.
I walk to the big rock blocking where the entrance would be and notice there are some really weird drawings on it, i trace the drawings, the rock is so soft i'm starting to doubt its even a rock.
suddenly i start feeling a tingling sensation in my hand, i look at the seashell that i'm still holding and it's vibrating like crazy, is this like some kind of bomb from the future or something? i know that sounds crazy, but this is a crazy situation in general.
I try to throw the shell to the floor but it wont budge. something really freaky is going on. i try screaming for help but no one shows up.
The shell suddenly stop's shacking and for a short period of time i feel really relieved that that wasn't a bomb, but that feeling quickly goes away when the shell starts getting hotter, and hotter, until its burning me, it starts shrinking and burning even more. and when its more or less as small as a blueberry it transforms itself into water.
i look at my hand and i have a burn on both palms with the form of the small shell. my hands hurt a lot, but it's not really a burning sensation,
my head starts to feel very light and everything tuns black.
