(Y/n) softly played with Daryl's hair as she had his head on her chest, trying to calm him. The moment his crying and shaking stopped, (Y/n) looked down at him, only to get pushed back by him towards Rick.
"You okay?" Rick asked, keeping an eye on (Y/n), before hearing the string of the crossbow getting pulled back, ready to hunt down its prey.
"Woah! Calm down Daryl..." (Y/n) went in front of his crossbow, which was aimed at Rick. This made Rick's anxiety rise, afraid that he might shoot her accidentally. In fact, Rick was more worried about her safety than his.
"Remember... violence is never the answer." (Y/n) softly spoke, lowering Daryl's crossbow to the ground slowly. They've held eye contact, which calmed Daryl down. "We'll find him, Daryl. I Promise."
(Y/n) stuck out her pinky finger, which was childish. Daryl's eyes softened for half a second before immediately turning into a glare. "You're not taking things seriously. You're going to die in a useless way one day."
That didn't seem to affect (Y/n) from the outside, as her smile was at the same, bright and filled with love. Yet... from the inside, she was torn apart by how he thought of her. Daryl probably thought of her as useless... weak, and that she couldn't do anything right.
"Listen here you son of a-" "Rick." (Y/n) called sternly as she reassuringly placed her hand on his shoulder, before giving her attention to Daryl again.
"Yes... I might be useless and can't do anything right in my life. But that doesn't mean that I'll stop trying to protect the people I love and care about. I just met you, but I see that you're a good person Daryl. So I won't hesitate to save you." Her bright smile slowly turned into a sad one, as she took a deep breath and went to Glenn.
The Asian boy noticed her tears, as he immediately held her close, rubbing a hand on her back. "It's fine... you won't be dying anytime soon... and hey, cheer up! We'll probably find Merle soon!" (Y/n) felt her cheeks getting bit playfully by Glenn, which made her let out a little chuckle along with a sob.
Rick looked at Daryl with a death glare, quickly going to his side and whispering to him, "First of all... I'm NOT going to let (Y/n) die that easily, you listen? Second of all.. make her sad again and you'll pay."
Though, Daryl wasn't paying attention to was Rick was saying. All he did was stare at the crying, yet trying to be a happy girl. He felt kind of bad for treating her like that, while she was trying her best to make him feel better.
(Y/n) locked eyes with him, as she gave him a sad smile before looking away to not bug him. Daryl looked at his brother's chopped hand, before sighing at the thought of asking the others for something to pick it up with.
"Anyone of you got some piece of clothes to pick up my brother's hand..?" Daryl asked quietly, as (Y/n) took out her handkerchief, which was pretty clean so far. "Yeah... it's yours now. You can keep it." (Y/n) gently placed it in his hand, before returning to Glenn.
Daryl placed the hand on the handkerchief, before wrapping it up and placing it in the bag that Glenn was carrying. Glenn seemed to be disgusted, as (Y/n) gently held his hand, "It's fine... maybe later on Daryl might remove it." (Y/n) reassured him, gently messing up his hair.
"Quit doing useless things and let's find Merle." That came wrong out of Daryl's mouth. He didn't want to hurt her again but that's him. "Y-Yeah... I'm sorry. Let's go." (Y/n) calmly walked past him, following the trail of the blood.
In case if there were walkers, (Y/n) took her combat knives out, walking steadily and quietly. "(Y/n), let me first. You might get tackled by a walker or something." As usual, Rick was babying her and getting all protective over her.
