You know you love me

I was sitting in silence in the waiting room. After 15 minutes of waiting Nina and Caleb arrived. They were both worried.

Nina ran towards me as soon as she saw me. She hugged me and tears immediately started falling down my cheeks.

"He will be fine, trust me," Nina said calming me down.

"At some point he will." I sobbed. "If I had just accepted his offer he would have focused on the game and this wouldn't have happened! It's all my fault!"

"It's not your fault," Caleb said. "It's just a leg."

"Just a leg? Do you hear yourself?! It's broken! What if he won't be able to walk anymore? Have you seen how he fell? Have you seen in how much pain he was?!" I yelled at Caleb, but guilt quickly replaced my anger. "I'm sorry." I whispered.

Caleb set next to me and hugged me as well.

In the meantime AJ came as well. Of course, he was worried too, a lot, maybe more than I was.

He walked in circles for about half an hour or more. We tried to calm him down but it didn't work. I understood him.

After 20 more minutes of waiting, the nurse came to us. We all stood up as we saw her.

"How is he?" AJ and I asked at the same time.

"He is doing well, but as expected, his leg is broken. He tried to stand up but he can't, which leads us to not being able to walk until he completely recovers. He will use crunches, but not immediately. He will have to stay in bed for the next two weeks."

I breathed heavily. AJ put his arm around my shoulders. I glanced at Nina and Caleb.

"Can we see him?" I asked hoping she would say yes.

"I will have to check that with him." She answered letting my hopes down.

We nodded and the nurse walked away.

"Fuck," I said as I was mad at myself.

"Breathe," Nina simply said. "It's fine now, it really isn't that big of a deal."

I went over to her and hugged her. "Thank you."

"Anytime."

I smiled at her. "Did you tell Daisy anything?"

"Yes, she sent lots of hugs to all of us."

"Is she feeling better?"

"Yes, she will come to school tomorrow."

At that moment the nurse came back.

"He wants to see only AJ."

The words she said couldn't get out of my head.

"No one else?" I asked just to check if I heard her well.

She nodded. "Only AJ."

AJ looked at me. You could still see feeze in his eyes.

"Just go," I said annoyed.

I really needed to see Andrew.

AJ went away with the nurse. I sighed and waited, again.

Caleb and Nina tried breaking the awkward silence couple of times, but I wasn't in the mood for talking.

"I always mess up." I mumbled.

"What was that?" Caleb asked.

"I always mess up." This time I said it clearly.

"It's not true." Nina tried to reassure me.

"It is. Do you remember that prank? I messed up big that time and everything went down."

"Look. I'm not going to sit here and listen to all the bullshit that you're saying. It's not true. It's not your fault. This could have happened to anyone. Stop falling deeper into that depressive episode and go to his fucking room and talk to him. I don't care if nurses or anyone stops you. You will walk in there and talk."

Wow, I thought.

I smiled at her and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.

As I headed towards Andrew's room, AJ and the nurse crossed my way.

"Where are you going?" AJ asked.

In that moment my confidence flew away.

"I just wanted to see where you were. You were inside for a long time." I lied.

He knew something was wrong but didn't say anything. I looked at the floor avoiding his eye contact.

"Miss, you live with Mister Davila, am I right?" The nurse asked.

"Yes, yes I do. Why?"

"Andrew will have to have a caregiver. Since you are living together, it would be the best if you would be the caregiver. You will have to be by his side every day. Is that okay with you?"

"Yes, of course it is."

"I will need you to sign some papers and you can take him home."

I smiled to myself. The feeling I had im my stomach was unfamiliar.

After I signed all the papers I had to, it was time to see Andrew.

I went into his room alone. Million things were going through my head, but everything was gone as he spoke.

"Did you really mean what you said back on the field?"

I froze. "I... I mean... I guess..."

His little laugh brightened the room. I smiled slightly.

"So?" He said/asked looking at me.

I quickly looked away.

"Why are you shy all of a sudden?"

As he said those words I could feel my face turning red.

"You're cute when you blush."

Really?! Again?!

"Are you trying to make me feel bad on purpose or yes?"

"You haven't answered my question."

I was a bit confused. "You haven't asked me anything."

"I did, I said: so."

"So what?" I was really confused now.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" He was dead serious.

I was left speechless. I opened my mouth to say something but nothing came out.

"You have one word to say. It's either yes or no. It really isn't that hard." He chuckled a bit. "Or you can just nod."

I didn't do anything. Just stood there like the biggest idiot on the planet.

"You know you love me."

A smile appeared on my face. "You know I do." I finally said something.

"I forgot how your voice sounded." Andrew joked.

"Hey! That's not ok!" I laughed.

He opened his arms for a hug. I went closer to his bad and carefully set next to him accepting the hug.

"So?" Andrew asked once again.

"Yes," I said this time.

"You don't know how long I've been waiting for you to say that."

I smiled into his chest. "Believe me or not, I actually do know."
