Unexpected Illness

Heavenly music swirling through the dusty air,
Dragging across wintry skin of ice.
Hair billowing in the silky breeze,
Snow flickering along a burning cheek.

The sunlight creating a tear
In the darkened sky, looking for the precise
Moment to spread a sickening disease
That has no home, nowhere to seek.

Her touch lingers like the aura of an affair,
Spreading through skin, not once but twice;
It all starts with a sneeze,
Unable to get away, all too weak.

Catching a snowflake on the tongue like a prayer,
Unable to taste the spice
Lashes shuttering shut, only to freeze
Her grip causing lungs to freak.

Scents of ice vanish in a snare
No longer able to entice,
Can you give the senses back, please?
The question too meek.

Breaking out of her hold is too much to bear,
Her removal like a slice;
Once she is gone, everything is put back at ease,
No longer unable to speak.
