Fingers slip through
Sheer lace of pearls
Tearing through the veil
While a woman wails

Buttons litter the floor
The rip straining
At its breaking point
The sound as it lets go

Flower petals float
As if suspended in time
From a better yesterday
Than today's misdeeds

Shattered champagne
Cuts into heels
As screams thunder through the house
No longer a happy occasion

The guests wonder
Their bewilderment clear
A once joyful couple
Now, hateful enemies
