Long black hair curls
Around sultry black eyes
With coal lining each
And berries in her teeth

Smudges appear on her cheeks
Revealing purple and blue hues
A life she cannot escape
A memory too damaging to repeat

Fingernails painted to perfection
Chip into smaller pieces
A symbol of life
As her own falls apart
