Undetectable

Fake laughs and
concealed tears
Escape is unavoidable

Unfamiliar faces
seek the weak
Unable to detect the
false confidence

Party goers
pay no mind
To the fly on the wall

Prayers
to go unnoticed
Leave chapped lips
as people greet without knowing

Red wine
stains the white carpet
Glass shrieking
into a shatter
Eyes crawl over
no longer under the radar

Still
no way to make an exit
Hands clasp at skin
trying to find injury

Too bad they don't know

The wounds
are under the surface
Too afraid to break through

Satisfied
the eyes wander away
Relief expelled
in the form of a breath

One remains, a voice of genuine concern
"Are you okay?"
