1st POV

Zuko and I were simply sitting in front of the hut, watching the sunset after the long day passed.

The whole day was spent in searching the village through, and it was like searching for a needle in a haystack.

We only found rotten fruit, which was mildly disturbing, considering the fact that it sat there for almost ten years.

My eyes closed as both Zuko and I were now laying on the small bed, drifting away to dreamland.

3rd P.O.V.

''Nice to see you again, traitors.''

The door opened, revealing a slim figure, a smug smirk plastered onto its face.

''What do you want, Azula?''

''Oh, you know, check up on my friends. Also, I'm here to inform you that your 'boyfriend' isn't exactly fond of you anymore. I mean...he found another girl he's happy with.''

Mai looked to the side, signaling Ty Lee to say something.

''Who is she? I mean why would Zuko look for someone else when Mai is right here?'', Ty Lee spoke, shifting on the cold cobblestone seats.

Azula let out a loud laugh as she gushed: ''You know...Y/N? That little dual bitch, you fought her a few days prior, I'm sure you do.''

Uncomfortable silence filled the room as Mai looked down, clutching onto her not-so-clean dress. Ty Lee glanced at the sad girl, who was now fighting back tears.

''Hey, just because you're clearly not good enough for him, doesn't mean you can cry. Honestly, I knew you were a spoiled brat, but this is just pathetic.''

Mai had enough. She jolted up, tears gliding down her face. In an attempt to attack Azula and punch her, she got pulled back by restraints and fell down to the cold floor.

''Yeah, yeah, whatever. Have fun in here!'', Azula shouted as she turned around to leave.

Mai was sobbing, and Ty Lee was hugging her. It was quiet. That comfortable, understanding type of silence.

1st POV

My eyelids slowly parted as I noticed a figure watching over me. The figure backed away the instant I woke up, and I smiled, knowing who it is.

''Good morning to you too, Zuzu.''

The awkward boy blushed at the nickname as I slowly got up, making my way to the outside world.

I yawned, smiling at the sun, noticing Zuko walking up and stopping beside me.

"So...what are we going to do for the rest of the day? There's no way in hell that we'll get home while it's this hot outside", he noted, covering his eyes.

I got lost in thoughts, debating on whether or not to swim in the lake. It was torture to sit in the sun doing nothing.

"How about...we swim? You know, in the lake?", I asked, turning around to face Zuko, only to see him already running down the hill towards the lake.

"Hey! Wait for me!", I gushed, trying to catch up on him.

His shirt was already on the ground as he jumped into the cold water, swimming as far as he possibly could.

It was one of the rare times when he acted as an actual child. Those moments of childhood he lost due to being royalty, the ones he could've had years ago.

I smiled and jumped into the water without a care or a need. I just wanted Zuko to finally be happy, and I guess, I was on the right path.

The afternoon was spent in fun and games. I was laying around in the soft grass while Zuko was competing with himself, diving, swimming and whatnot.

When it was finally bearable to walk in the sun, we got our stuff and took one last tour around the village and the lake.

"When the war ends, we're coming back here to celebrate for sure. I never knew it was this beautiful here...I can't wait to repair all of this.'', Zuko grinned, talking like an excited child.

We finally stood at the top of the hill, glancing back to the crater-lake once again.

I sat in the boat, watching Zuko push it away from the shore.

We were drifting to the other side as the boat rocked back and forth, and the waves slapping the wooden surface being the only sound.

The sun was already about to set when we stepped onto the now known soil, taking the route back home.

We talked about everything and anything, laughing at stupid remarks each of us made.

The two of us have definitely gotten closer when we went away. We always were, though, it takes a lot for Zuko to warm up to someone, and I know that very well.

It was already pretty dark when we got to the temple. The strangely built structure was lit up, distinctively standing out in the silent forest.

...

"Guess who's back!", I said as everyone's attention shifted from Aang's cheap airbending tricks to my loud self.

"Y/N! Zuko! Where were you two?", Katara asked as she ran towards us, "...and...where is the food you promised?''

I nervously laughed, glancing at Zuko, who already knew what he was going to say.

"The village Sokka and Y/N went to last time was short on both food and supplies. They recoginzed Y/N and asked us to stay for the night and we couldn't decline. The feast was pretty good, I have to admit."

Katara just shrugged, turning back around to sit down.

I felt someone's gaze on me, recognizing who it is with no doubt.

Sokka was staring at me with the same sharp gaze, ocassionally looking at Zuko too.

I was told to sit down, and the few empty seats were next to Sokka's.

I sat down next to him, Zuko following my steps. We ate Katara's soup in silence as I felt Sokka pushing himself closer to me.

The next thing I know is that the two apparently jelaous boys were quietly bickering and cursing eachother out, all that while sitting 1 inch away from me.

We sat in uncomfortable silence while the rest was talking and laughing.

I needed to get out of the awkward situation so I excused myself and somehow got up from the table, leaving my halfway finished soup to cool on the table.

The silent footsteps I made echoed through the dorm-like complex. The old floor creaked each time i got closer to my room, and the door slid open as I plopped down onto the matress.

What is their deal? I don't understand...boys are weird...

Those were my last thoughts as I drifted to sleep, unaware of the two teenagers secretly watching over me.
