Overthinking

A hot shower was exactly what I needed to get my head straight. An hour later I was showered, dressed in leggings and a baggy sweater, and drinking a cup of peppermint tea. We had agreed to meet back at Alastor's in the morning, giving me the evening to unwind and get myself prepared.

Sitting down on the couch, I reflected over the night's events as I sipped my tea. The easiness of the entire situation was unsettling and I wondered if there was more than met the eye. Surely there must have been something bad bound to happen. It all went off too easily.

"You're overthinking things," Jordan said, coming out of his own room to make a bowl of ramen noodles, "You always get that look on your face when you're overthinking things."

I glanced up at him from over the rim of my steaming mug, "It all went too easily."

"It went easily because Fred is a fucking moron." Jordan replied as he worked, "He's locked in Alastor's basement waiting for what's coming to him."

I couldn't help but smirk. Because at the heart of it, I was what was coming to him.
