My life seemed to shift after taking out my frustration on Fred. Sitting on my couch after a hot shower, I attempted to process everything that had happened today.
For so long, I had wanted to make Fred physically feel the pain I had lived with since his corrupted presence slithered into my life. I wanted him to feel something similar to what I had felt. Now that I had gotten a chance to do exactly that, I felt without purpose.
Yes, Fred was still clinging to life down in Alastor's basement. However, despite the knowledge that he was finally going to pay for his crimes, I didn't just want to dispose of him and that be the end of it. I wanted to do something more.
My phone buzzing interrupted my commiserating. Unlocking the screen, I saw a text from Alastor.
Alastor: How are you feeling?
Me: Thoughtful. Like we could be doing something more than just revenge against one man.
Alastor: What are you thinking?
I thought for a minute before replying, "I'm not sure."
Tossing my phone onto the couch, I sighed and got up. It was late and I needed sleep. Maybe things would look clearer in the morning.
