Alastor and I cleaned up and made our way over to the victorian house. Looking around in the shabby hallway, I sighed. There was a lot of work that was going to need to be done to make it livable.
What wallpaper was left was stained and peeling so bad I couldn't tell what the original color was supposed to be. The flooring was rotting in places, making each step feel like a gamble. And to top it off, there was a smell. It was something like a cross between my grandmother's basement and a middle school boy's locker room.
"This is going to take a lot of work," I groaned.
Alastor's eyes flicked over the damage, his grin more amused than anything, "I can have a crew in here working on it by tomorrow morning."
I turned my gaze towards the Radio Demon, "Are you sure? We can find another way. This is going to be expensive."
Alastor shrugged nonchalantly, "Money comes and goes. What's the use in saving it when you're immortal?"
I had to admit, he had a point. I took another look around the decaying house. It was definitely going to take a lot of work and money to make this place a livable sanctuary. And if Alastor was willing to foot the bill in exchange for mutilating abusive pimps, who was I to stand in his way?
