Steve was lying on his bed with no intention of falling asleep, talking with Clint who kept switching from sitting at his desk to sitting on his bed and then back to his desk again. The two were both slightly nervous about their first day tomorrow and couldn't sleep.

"What classes do you have for tomorrow?" Clint asked Steve.

"Science, math, training, target practice, history, lunch, language arts, advanced hand-to-hand combat. In that order." Steve said. He was deathly afraid of being late and had already memorized his schedule.

Clint got up from his bed and moved to his desk, where all his class information was.

"We have math, training, target practice, and lunch together" Clint said.

"Oh, that's good. If you're not already tired of me." Steve said, smiling.

"Never." Clint told him. "You're a pretty cool guy. And come on, how many people can say that they have Captain friggin America."

"Thanks."

Just then, an announcement came over the PA system.

"Students, this is Principle Fury. As it is now eight fifty-five and a school night, it is expected that you are back in your dorms by nine and in bed by nine thirty. More information about your curfews and lights-out can be found in your orientation letters or on the school's website. Goodnight." The PA system clicked off.

"How many people do you think are gonna get busted for not following curfew?" Steve asked, trying to make conversation.

Steve took a moment to consider. "In a school this big? I dunno. Probably that kid Pepper invited that's always on his phone."

"Tony? Dear god, he probably won't. He can just get his daddy to bail him out. The Starks are loaded." Clint replied.

"Fuck, I hate people like that. Insufferable pricks who think that they can get by on only money and good looks." Steve said, resenting Tony more by the second.

"I know, right?" Clint said sympathetically.

Steve just nodded, half asleep. He didn't hate easily and didn't like to judge people, but Tony gave him the impression of all the other rich pretty-boys that he'd had to deal with in his other school. They didn't really cause that much harm, but were still annoying to deal with.

"Just don't cause trouble with him. Like I said, his dad's got connections." Clint warned, knowing that Steve was one to be impulsive.

"Don't worry, the last thing I want to do is cause a conflict." Steve said. "I don't like bullies."

"And so righteous, too." Clint said.

Steve responded by throwing a pillow at him.

"Jerk."

"Asshole."

"Goodnight, Clint."

"Night, Steve."

"Fuck fuck fuck! Where the hell is my backpack?" Clint screamed, frantically looking around the dorm room.

"Here!" Steve said, tossing the backpack to Clint and grabbing the shield that he placed at the front door and stuffing it into his own bag.

The two raced out of their dorm, barely remembering to lock the door behind them.

"See you next period!" Steve called, halfway down the hallway.

"I'll text you!" Clint responded, holding up his phone.
