Nightshade Princess of Shadows ( A Nightmare Before Christmas Fanfic)

Scary Birthday

Almost every monster had there hand up and I answered many questions. What was it like living in the human would? Did you ever know of Halloween town? Had my parents survived? Most questions I had answers to but others I didn't.
Finally after a while jack announced that it was about time for the dinner so the citizens helped to bring in tables and chairs.
It's seemed like it was a potluck supper with everyone bringing in something to eat. They arranged the table for it to be one long one. Jack sat at the head of the table and I sat on his right.
The room was full of chatter as everyone talked while serving and eating. It was truly a warm atmosphere, I never felt like this with so much people around me. I couldn't stop smiling. I spotted the doctor and Jewel near the middle and waved.
I served myself an array of different foods none of witch looked appetizing so naturally I dug in. Apart from everything having a discussing name and appearance everything was simply delicious. I finished my plat in under ten minutes.
As I waited and conversed a little with the lagoon creature to my side I noticed that someone was missing from this picture but before I could put my finger on it the tables literally disappeared in a puff of smoke. Empty plates and all.
I stood up and so did everyone else and all the chairs slide to the walls. I was the only one amazed.
Then suddenly music started playing from the stage. A zombie band was playing a sweet but dark tune, it was fast in tempo.
I felt so confused that I quickly made my way to the wall here the chairs were before everyone started dancing but a thin hand grabbed mine. "Oh no you don't" the unknown person said as he spun me onto the dance floor.
"Remember you said I would have the first dance" Jack said grinning.
I laughed relived "well yes I guess I did promise you that". "Wonderful! Now you just put your hand on my shoulder and....." He said while guiding my hands to where they should be and placing one politely just under my shoulder blade , making me go slightly rigid. "And we're off!!" He exclaimed as he whisked me off in the sea of dancing monsters.
It was a fast waltz, I stubbled a little at first but it turned out to be quiet easy. 1 2 3, 1 2 3, and you just move with the music.
"Your a natural, I don't have to teach you anything" jack laughed as he spin me. This felt amazing, a part of me still thinks this isn't real but my other half never wants that to be true.
The song dies and the band begins to struck a new tune.
"May I cut in" a sleek voice said. Oh hell.
It was Strange, wearing a spider web covered tuxedo and plastered on his face an innocent smile that didn't suit him. "You may certainly not!" I exclaim but he persists. "It's just a dance princess" he pleaded falsely. I growled in my throat "fine!" I said frustrated. I gave Jack an assuring look and he nodded but I already new He was going to keep a close eye socket on us.
Right after Jack releases me Noir takes hold of me and spines me into the crowd. The new song is a tango.
His hold on my waist was much to low and I aggressively pull it put were it should be and he's holding me way to close for comfort. "What do you want?!" I spat out. His mouth turned up in satisfaction. "I feel we got on the wrong paw earlier today.." "That was entirely your falt" I interrupted but he continued. "And I want to make it up to you. We did get along together before didn't we" he asked. "That's before you could talk" I said still fuming. He rolled his eyes "what I'm saying is I want to be friends again" and this time it actually sounded like he was being sincere. "Are you still going to heras me?" I ask. He laughs "come on I heras everyone in this town your no exception" but when he saw the stern look I was giving him he said " I'll try my best"
"Well I guess we're friends then." I said still not sure of the idea. "Manific!" He exclaimed as he spun me. I lost control and became disoriented with dissiness. When I regained myself Strange was gone. It felt like I just fell in a trap of his but what kind.
When I turned Jack was to my side " he just vanished" I say. "Yes he tends to do that" he sighed. "At lest he's gone. Come I want you to meat someone" he said taking my hand and leading me out of the crowd.
"This is the mayor of Halloween town" Jack said as we came to a short and stout man with a very tall and crocked top hat. He wore a suit with a black widow for a neck tie and a Ribbon on is chest that said "Mayor"on it.
He looked up with the most enthusiastic brightest face I ever seen and said "why hello there!! It's a great pleasure to meat you!" He shook my hand and I smiled back. "Like wise"
But then his face suddenly turned to replace one of great worry and sadness "oh it's such a shame about your parents, they were such good creatures!" He weeped. "Oh no don't worry about that, it couldn't have been helped" a say desperately trying to cheer him up. "I guess your right" and his face changed again to cheerful. "We're all so frightful your back!! Now sometime this week we'll all talk about your arrangements here" he stated as he took out his watch. His face changed to worry again and said "oh I must be going, there's only 362 days left till next Halloween you know!!!" He exclaimed as he ran off. "He's always concerned that we won't have enough time to get everything ready every year" jack shacks his head smiling.
We danced practically all night and no one seamed to be tired. The dancing finally ended but before everyone was about to leave they started singing. It was a birthday song. It was early beautiful and I just stood there in my middle of the floor. No one has ever sung me happy birthday before let along had a birthday. I started to tear up for how happy I was. This war truly the best birthday ever.
Everyone cheered then Jack escorted me out of the hall. "That was wonderful Jack thank you so much for this" I thanked him as we made our way back to the doctors. "It was my great pleasure. Everyone will probably still be partying till dawn since most of the towns people are nocturnal" he chucked. I laughed too.
Alas we ascended the stairs to the front door. "I guess this is where I leave you. Good night Nightshade, and Scary Birthday" he said and kissed my hand formally. And again I thanked him and I went inside.
I strut upstairs to my room, slipped of my dress and buried myself under the covers a smile on my face as I drifted to sleep.
