I did what anyone else would do. I ran after him. God I'm such a prat!! I didn't mean to do this to him!! I don't know if an apology is even enough for this. I ran to the middle of town centre and looked around to see if I could spot him but his tall figure wasn't found. I thought to go to his home but something told me that he wouldn't be there. So I ran to the graveyard.
I swung open the gates and there he was, siting on Spiral Hill. He looked even more distresses then on that fateful night.
I made my way slowly through the gravestones and up the hill. I sat next to him and sifted his eyes to me for a moment. I never knew a skeleton could cry.
After a while of siting together in silence he said in a soft quivering voice "I was stupid to not see that that was comeing" his laugh wasn't one of joy. The movie was focused a lot on Sally too I now realized. I wanted to tell him that he wasn't stupid, and he wasn't. He was only neive.
"Tell me what happened to her?" I asked softly, putting a hand on his boney shoulder at an attempt of comforting.
He inhaled and exhaled a shaky breath " We were engaged after that...." He started and tried to contain himself " I thought everything was fine. We were together." He took in another breath still not looking my way. "But she said she always wanted something more that this town. She always she said she didn't fit in in this world. So she left. For the human world." he said trying to contain himself again " I thought we loved each other but I didn't notice that she was drifting away from me...... When she left she said to me these exact words. I never forgot them " My dearest Jack. The only thing I did in my first years after creation was faun over you. I thought you would be my greatest adventure but I was denying myself my longing for something more. I loved you Jack, so much but the feeling that you chased that day, I have to chase that feeling too. I'll always love you Jack."
He couldn't hold back much longer and he erupted in my arms with sobs. It was the first embrace I was a part of but I needed and also wanted to comfort him in this. I can't believe this happened to him. And I can't believe Sally left this world and him. 'We're simply meant to be' what a load of bullocks.
We sat there for a while with each other for company. Jack had calmed down but was still shaking. Knowing Jack this wasn't going to blow over fast, I needed to help him.
"Remember when you said that I was welcome to stay with you?" I asked.
He answered with a simple "Yes".
"Well the Doctors been getting on my nerves lately and Jewels has been becoming very clingy...." They where just half truths, especially the Jewel part. "So I though I could stay with you if that was alright......and I also think you could use a friend right now" I said taking his hand and giving him a small smile. And for and instant a sad smile, but it was a smile appeared too on Jacks mouth.
"I would be delighted to have you in my home..." he said sounding a little like himself again. "And thank you" he said as he squeezed my hand.
Then we sat there a while more looking at the stars and the beautiful full moon above us. I don't know if we ever left.
