I am not sure what time I had woken up, but the moon was held high in the black sky with no stars. The window was uncovered from the curtains and I still had Faye, sleeping with no worries in my hands. I looked over to where Illinois slept and I could faintly hear his small snores.I carefully put Faye in my right hand and used my left to rub my eyes. Though my actions of moving carefully to not wake up Faye failed because she woke up and rubbed her face with her cute little paws. She then climbed up my arm and onto my shoulder. Then, she rubbed her face against my cheek like earlier.
I giggled a little, trying not to wake up Illinois. But my smile turned down into a frown. I looked outside again. Something feels....unsettling. Like we are not safe here. It's just....something crawls up my spine and into my brain that terror is close by.
I got up from my chair and walked out into the balcony. It was dead silent. No noise could be heard. And that is something I do not trust.
I could hear soft moans from Illinois. I turned to him to see him moving in sleep. The more he moved, the more he made soft moans and grunts. He squirmed and wiggled, making the bed move and creak. I slowly walked to his bed, looking at his face. It looked....distressed. I never seen him like this. I felt....sad. I sighed as I gently placed my hand on his shoulder. Slowly but surely, he started to calm down.
He moved back to his original position, facing away from me. I exhaled as I sat back in my chair. Faye squeaked in my ear, like an urgent squeak.
I thought nothing of it and laid back further into the chair. My thoughts wandered and wandered of what was going to happen next.
Just then, I remembered the small book I had got from Illinois's house. I looked over to Illinois, him snoring once again. I got the book from my pocket and looked at it.
I then heard a creak from above me. We were on the top floor. What could be up there?
I walked out onto the balcony again and tried to look up on the roof. I couldn't see much and I eventually gave up on it.
I walked back into the room, covering the windows with the curtains. I heard another creak above me and I started to get irritated of it. I gave out a few breathes.
The creaks continued and my senses started to kick in. Fear. Defense. Awareness. These were the emotions I was feeling. That is not a well combination.
I was in need of comfort. But I didn't want Illinois to comfort me by holding me in his hands. Yes, he has saved my life multiple times. But I still don't trust him. But he was the only person.
I walked over to his bed and rubbed my arm.
[Y/N] Illinois?-
*CRASH*
I heard glass shattering behind me. This woke Illinois and we both looked to the window. People jumped in from outside and onto the floor. Illinois got up from the bed and stood beside me.
Faye stuttered off of my shoulder and below the bed, hiding and quivering in fear. I could hear her squeaks.
There was about 5 people inside our room, all dressed in black. Their faces were covered in black as well. We didn't know what to do, but I was not getting good feelings of these people. (Obviously! Why would they crash into the window when they could simply knock on the door?!)
[???] Get them!!
One said in a deep, deep voice.
Just then, two lunged toward me and two lunged toward Illinois. The two pinned me down to the floor, getting my arms and legs.
I tried to kick and squirm my way out, but they still kept me pinned.
[???] So you two are the ones on this mission to the Temple of the Lost Elephant.
[Y/N] We are not telling you shit. And we never will.
[???] You are going to tell us.Just then, I heard a man grunt beside me to see Illinois somehow punched the guy. Illinois punched him in the face, and now focusing on the other guy.
I used it as an advantage to spit into one of the persons face. They flinched back, taking their hands off of one arm. I used that one to punched him near his jugular and punched the other in the gut.
They had gotten enough pressure off of my legs and I folded my knees to my chest and pushed them off of me. They both collided into the wall.
I got up quickly as I can and ran towards them, sending punches to each of them. I then felt an arm wrap around my neck. I clawed are it, trying to get myself free.
The two walk towards me, one getting my legs and one punching me in the stomach. Even though I was in pain, I kicked the person holding my legs right to the jaw, freeing my legs.
I planted them of the floor and grabbing the person who was holding me around my neck and swung them forwards to the other person.
They were now on the floor and I picked up some of the glass remains and dug them into some of their skin. They screamed and I punched each one of them in the face. When I did, they both were knocked out cold.
Illinois was still having some trouble.
I ran to one person and tackled them down to the floor. I wrapped my hands around their neck and squeezed as hard as I can. They gagged and choked as my grip became tighter and tighter.
Grunts were heard behind me and I continued to focus on my own person. His movements of trying to let me go we're getting slower and slower. Until he went limp.
The grunts from behind me also stopped. I stood up and looked over at Illinois, him holding his jaw.
[Illinois] That was unexpected.
[Y/N] Best we should go now. There will be more soon.I looked under the bed to see Faye still there, hiding and quivering. I held out my hand to her and she looked at it. She sniffed it and immediately climbed on and went to my shoulder.
. . .
I couldn't figure out a good title for this, so please excuse the title because I'm not very fond of it.
