It was half past 7 in the morning. Eri was getting ready to meet up with her friends at the diner. It was the weekends and they were going to make a study group at Eri's house but eating breakfast at the diner.
A few minutes walk away, she entered the diner and saw Jun waving at her. She smiled and when she reached there, she saw Keonhee and Hwanwoong. She was shocked when Hwanwoong sat beside Jun, Eri thought she's going to sit beside Jun.
With no words, she sat beside Keonhee and pulled out a fake smile. After they ordered their menus, all of them were playing around. Eri sat quietly and listened to their conversation mindlessly.
"What about you, Eri? What do you pick?" Jun asked.
What's with the sudden question? She was daydreaming until she didn't realised they were looking at her and that's how they came up with the sudden question.
"I- I don't know" she shrugged it of and they nodded in response, still eyeing on her. Creepy.
Soon, their food and drinks came. Eri wanted to eat her food peacefully but with Jun being a chatterbox she is, it's almost impossible not to be peaceful. But why does she found this as annoying so suddenly? She knew this is how Jun acted since they were small.
She shook her head at the thought. She looked at Jun and she was giving her veggies to Hwanwoong but she usually gives her greens to Eri.
"Yah, Jun.. Take it back" Hwanwoong scolded playfully while pointing at the veggies.
Jun pouted and took it back. She noticed Eri was looking at them and asked if she wanted. "Oh now I'm in the picture" Eri thought bitterly.
Jun smiled and slowly gave her the greens as a joke but Eri wasn't having it. "Just give it to me" Eri's statement was harsh and she quickly grabbed it from Jun's plate.
Jun sat there, bewildered. She was hurt by the treatment from Eri. The boys looked at them and was surprised by the scene. The atmosphere between them soon turned awkward.
Eri felt a bit quilty by how she acted but shrugged it of. "Why don't we go to Eri's house to study?" Keonhee nervously said, trying to bring up the mood.
"Let's go!" Jun stood up.
...
Soon the study session started in Eri's room and they started with the subject 'chemistry'. Eri was pretty pissed at how Jun acted, she was leaning against Hwanwoong. Her head on his shoulder, she glared at the both of them.
"Jun, if you want to study.. Please take this seriously" Eri said with annoyance. Jun immediately straighten her posture and laughed nervously. They noticed that Eri's demeanor was different from the usual right after she said to Jun in the diner.
The atmosphere was too tensed, everybody was scared to move because they don't want to trigger Eri.
Eri on the other hand was feeling guilty and the air felt like it was suffocating her. She groaned and abruptly left the room, leaving them behind.
Her parents went away so it was only them in her house. She sat at the stairs and she heard a sound of the door closing. She looked behind and saw Jun walking up to her, Jun sat beside her at the stairs.
"What's gotten into you?" Jun started, she was worried by Eri's actions.
"Nothing" she lied with her voice monotone. She stood up, ready to go back into her room.
But Jun also stood up and grabbed her wrist, making her stop. "Don't lie, idiot. Why do you act like this? I saw you glaring at Hwanwoong".
"There you go with Hwanwoong again.." Eri fired back and rolled her eyes.
"Unbelievable, you're acting like this because of Hwanwoong joined? But you sounded okay with it when you gave your reply in the text yesterday" Jun accidentally gripped a bit harder on Eri's hand.
Suddenly, memories of her first encounter with Yoora flashed in her mind. She panicked and pulled her arm from Jun's grasp with force. "Let go!" she raised her voice and looked behind but she saw Yoora's face.
Without a second thought, Eri pushed Yoora off the stairs.
Jun lost balanced and fell down, she screamed.
The scream snapped Eri out of her world and gasped when she saw it was actually Jun who she pushed. "Jun.." Eri teared up, the words was barely audible.
The boys of course heard the scream and ran out of the room. They saw the aftermath of the scene, Eri on top of the stairs while Jun at the bottom.
Keonhee didn't hesitate dashing to Jun's aid. Hwanwoong meanwhile called his parents and said to pick them up cause there was an emergency.
Eri was stunned "Y- you guys..".
Keonhee didn't hear her but Hwanwoong did. "How did this even happened?" the latter asked.
Eri's tears were streaming down and she wanted to explain but her voice won't come out. Hwanwoong shook his head and sighed.
Hwanwoong called out Keonhee saying his mother will pick them up. Hwanwoong went back to the room they were studying and cleaned it up.
Keonhee carried Jun bridal style and walked out, Eri sat at the stairs and cried. Hwanwoong walked out with their stuff and looked at Eri, he patted her head and continued walking.
He exited the house.
...
Eri was left alone in her house, she was lying down in her living room. It wasn't even evening yet but so many things happened. All she wanted was to spend quality time with them but she let jealousy took over her..
If she could just explain to Jun why she acted that way then all of this won't have happened. She cried of how stupid she was. An idiot indeed.
She wanted comfort from her parents but they are away right now, out of the country.. How convenient. Calling them would be troublesome, she doesn't want to worry her parents.
She wanted to follow Jun but she felt like a criminal. She doesn't want to show her face infront of them, not now.
She scrolled through her contacts and saw the phone number. She was hesitating at first but her drowsiness from crying made her pressed "call".
"Hello?"
....
