"Why were you sent to kill Odin?" I sighed through my nose. I had started to mind my cellmate a little less since he called me a Half-Breed, but I still wasn't a fan of his incessant questions. I figured I owed him an answer since I hadn't spoken yesterday as to let my vocal cords recover from the strain of talking.
"I wasn't of a high enough rank to have that information disclosed to me," I answered.
"What does that mean?" For all of his genius, he could be quite stupid sometimes.
"They wouldn't tell me," I said, dumbing it down to his level.
"Why not?" He asked.
"I dunno," I shrugged.
"What did they tell you?" He inquired.
"I was destined to return the Elves to their former glory. Load of horsecrap, that was. I assume that after I succeeded, they would've dumped me in a random realm or killed me because I no longer had a use,"
"Even after all those years of training?"
"There are always people like me,"
"But still, why waste all that potential? You could have conquered Yggdrasil," I let out a harsh and sharp laugh.
"Me? Conquer Yggdrasil? I couldn't kill an old man," He scoffed.
"No, you couldn't. But if you had, the realms would've fallen into chaos, allowing the Elves to take over and do whatever they wanted to do with it,"
"Return it to the way it was, and go back to Ginnugagap," I said monotonously.
"Ginnugagap?" He asked.
"A vast, primordial darkness that existed before the creation of the manifest universe, and where the Elves are from. Back where they reigned and were unchallenged,"
"And how did they plan to achieve that?"
"With the Aether, which King Bor stole and hid away. Apparently, he hid it well because no one's been able to find it,"
He must've grown tired of my history lesson because he went silent. I went over to the wall, scratching the 295th mark into the wall. I was coming up on 300 days in prison, and 10 months trapped down here. Only 59834 more months until I die of old age down here.
Wonderful.
a/n I finally figured out aging in this universe at least. Basically, one year on Earth is the same as one year on Svartalfheim, and 62 years on Asgard. Currently, in Aesir years, Tanya's 806, but she's only 13 in Earth/Svartalfheim years. I can't tell you how long that took me to figure that out.
