I took deep breaths until I calmed down and let my mind wander to other things. It was about midday, and I was hungry, so I set about making some food. Well, I was going to, but my phone rang. "Hello?" I asked, holding the phone to my ear. "Tanya?" Steve's voice asked.
"Steve? What is it? What's going on?" I asked. "Nothing, I just wanted to see how you were doing," He said. "Oh. Let me put you on speakerphone," I said, setting my phone down and pressing a button. "So, what have you been up to?" He asked. "Nothing much. I got a dog, a partner, and almost got mugged the other night," I said, putting water into a pot.
"You sound like you've been doing fine. Have you heard from anyone recently?" He asked. "I ran into Thor and a friend a few months ago. They were looking for his dad, though I don't know why. Other than that, and that package you sent me, I haven't heard anything. What about you?" I asked. "I've been in contact with Sam and Nat. I sent Tony a way to reach me. I haven't heard anything from Clint or Ellie, they're probably enjoying retirement," Steve said. "Retirement? At Ellie's age?" I asked. "From the hero life. After Sokovia...she had enough of this life," Steve explained.
"Oh. How's Bucky?" I asked. "He's in Wakanda, trying to get the stuff outta his head. T'Challa took him in as an apology for trying to kill him," He said. "Hmm. Where are you?" I asked. "I can't tell you that, someone might find a way to hack this call. Just for both of our's safety. Let's just say I'm in Europe and leave it at that. Where are you?" He asked. "Toronto, Canada," I said bluntly.
"Why Canada?" He asked. "It's not somewhere I'm wanted by the law," I said. My timer went off, and I pressed a button to make it shut up. I drained the water and dished the pasta after adding butter. I continued talking to Steve over the sounds until there was a scratching from my room.
I picked my phone up. "What is it?" Steve asked, hearing the scratching. "My dog's in my room and wants out," I explained. I went in, Onyx darting out and to her food bowl. My eyes roamed the room, looking for any damage. Instead, I noticed that a picture was missing.
A very important picture. "I have to go," I said, venom in my voice. "What? What is it?" He asked. "Something's been stolen, a picture I hold dear to me. And I know exactly who took it," I said, then hung up. I marched across the hall and knocked on the door.
I was shocked at the scene I was greeted with.
a/n I need to apply this method when talking to my little brother.
