Quidditch, Quidditch and more Quidditch

Dear Diary,

I haven't had the chance to write since the Quidditch World Cup. Life has been hectic ever since and Mum has been driving everyone up the wall.

A load of death eaters turned up at the Quidditch match and someone set off the dark mark. It was terrifying. We were sprinting about in the dark in our pyjamas and we had no idea what was happening.

Mum has all but banned talk of what happened so almost every night after dinner, Harry, Ron, Hermione and I sneak up to Ron's room and talk about it.

We don't just talk about that of course. Often Hermione and I will slip into conversations about some of the muggle books I've read and it drives the boys insane.

Today was no different. As normal, we ditched everyone else and ended up sat on Ron's bed. We were discussing the mini Quidditch match we'd had that day. Hermione had simply sat on the side-lines and watched while Harry, Ron and I were against Ginny and Fred and George.

In the end, the other team won but only because we had butterfingers, Ronald, on our team.

"You're actually an amazing chaser, Gina," Harry said. I was taken aback by the compliment. Being compared against my brothers my entire life and the Ginny meant no one had ever really told me I was good at most things.

"Thanks," I smiled, gratefully. "I mean obviously Ginny is way better than me but I've kind of had to learn to keep up with them. Except for Ron." He threw a pillow at me and I dodged it easily.

Hermione smiled but then looked at me. "Seriously though, from where I was sitting, you were really good. Have you ever thought about trying out for the Hufflepuff team?" I laughed but then suddenly stopped when I realised she was serious.

"Are you kidding? I'd be on a team against two of my brothers and I bet Ron will try out in a few years' time and so will Ginny. I'd be playing against most of my family."

"So?" Ron inquired. "If anything it'll give you more of a push to win." I rolled my eyes but secretly, I'd love to be apart of the team. The way everyone rallies around together is just so inspiring. I'd be terrified to try out on my own but I knew there was no way in hell Kelly or Danielle would join me.

Danielle was sweet but far preferred the joys of school work than any sort of physical activity. Last year she passed up a couple of Hogsmeade trips because it was "too cold" and she had "work to do." Kelly, on the other hand, hated Quidditch. She'd watch the matches simply to support her house but apart from that, she refused to take part in such a violent sport.

I loved my friends, but if I wanted to take part in Quidditch, I'd have to do it alone. I smiled at the thought of what their reactions would be when I told them. I knew Danielle would immediately start getting as many yellow and black things to wear and would be my biggest supporter. Kelly would lecture me on the dangers of the sport, and when she realised I was set on it, she'd join in Dani's screaming and supporting. Jacob and Becki, my best friends from Slytherin, would start getting cocky. They are gonna tell me that everyone knows Slytherin is going to win but they'll still support me.

I loved my friends. I could literally decide to cut all my hair off and go into necromancy and they'd say "as long as you don't die, go crazy."

I chuckled to myself and the three other people I had forgotten were in the room looked at me in confusion. I blushed and hung my head. Despite my embarrassment, the smile still didn't leave my face.
