Dear Diary,
We have three days left until the students from Beauxbatons and Drumstrang arrive. The school is strangely peaceful but I think everyone is enjoying the quiet before the storm. This afternoon, I was sitting in the library, pretending to do homework when really I was reading the newest book Dad had sent me when someone tapped on my shoulder. I turned to see a tall (and incredibly handsome boy) leaning over me.
He was smiling wide. I recognised him as Cedric Diggory, a fellow Hufflepuff. We'd met at the Quidditch World Cup this summer.
"Hi, sorry to interrupt but it's Regina right?" He asked. I returned his smile and nodded.
"Just Gina. No one really calls me by my full name except my parents."
"Ah okay. Well, I just recognised you from over the summer and wanted to come to say hello. So... hello."
I laughed. "Hi, nice to see you again. How are you after, well what happened at the Quidditch World Cup?"
"I'm not too bad, my dad managed to get me away pretty quickly. Although I heard you and your friends got into a bit of trouble," he replied, intruiged. Loads of people had heard about what happened but I really wasn't in the mood to talk about it... with anyone.
"Yeah, you know the ministry. They're 'shoot first ask questions never,'" I rolled my eyes.
We stayed there talking until eventually, Madame Pince chucked us out. It was nice being able to walk with someone all the way to my common room. He told me he was thinking of going for the Triwizard Tournament and, even though I thought the whole idea was dumb, I told him that he'd be our best chance at winning. Although seeing as he's a Hufflepuff, I'm a little biased.
I waved him good night as he went into his dormitory, and I went up the stairs to mine.
I'd be lying if I told you that Cedric Diggory wasn't the most handsome boy I've ever seen in my life. But the weird part was, I'm not sure he was aware of how attractive he was. Take for example boys like Draco Malfoy. Now, if you tell my brother or Harry, I'll deny it to my last breath but that boy is very attractive, despite the fact he's a complete knob. But what takes away from his handsomeness is how he flaunts it every chance he gets because he knows. Cedric was sweet and considerate and he grinned just because he liked smiling and not to charm girls.
Ron hates it when I talk about boys but I have to rant to him because Ginny never seems to have an interest in boys and my other brothers wouldn't even let me go near them. Ron and I were practically inseparable when we were at home. Once we were talking about whom we thought was attractive in the school and I said Harry because, hello, I'm not blind. He completely freaked out and said that was his best friend.
I couldn't stop laughing for nearly an hour. Ginny walked in wondering what all the racket was about and I could barely explain through my laughs and Ron refused to even repeat the words. When I finally told her, she said "Oh yeah Harry's very handsome" and Ron fell onto his bed and shoved his head into a pillow.
I missed times like that when we are at Hogwarts. All my other siblings become so much closer during the school year whereas I am shoved to the outside and feel abandoned. Don't get me wrong, I like having my own friends, but still it'd be nice to have my brother's notice me once in a while.
My candle's nearly burnt out now so I should probably try to get some sleep. Goodnight.
