November 2017

Rosalie had her first paid job in November. She was so excited when she had gotten the e-mail and had told everyone. It wasn't a huge magazine but she was still excited to see her photos featured inside it. The editor of the magazine had been a friends of Paula's and after seeing her portfolio, he had agreed to let her photograph some models for their next issue.

The thought of discussing photography with anyone but Paula terrified her. When she arrived it seemed to be quite a professional shoot. There were three models, none of whom she knew but she didn't know anyone in pop culture. There was a large brown wall and all three models were getting their make up done.

"Hi, I'm Hannah. You're the photographer right?" A petite woman with short blonde hair approached her as soon as she walked through the door.

"That's me." She tried to act confident. Paula had told her there was nothing more worrying than a photographer that doesn't know what they want. Rosalie didn't know what she wanted but she was going to pretend her hardest so she didn't make a fool of herself.

"Perfect. The girls are just getting ready so you can tell them what to do once you have all your gear set up and such." She told her before walking away. Rosalie took that as a sign she should've understood what she was meant to do.

As she was setting away, she heard sounds of heels walking towards her so she looked up to see a very dressed up beautiful woman standing in front of her.

"Hi, I'm Laura. One of the models." She held out her hands. Rosalie took it, accepting the ounce of friendliness she had encountered that day.

"Rosalie Bernard, photographer. You look gorgeous." She complimented.

"Thank you. That's a very French name." She commented. Rosalie nodded, very intimidated by this tall woman in front of her.

"It is. I'm from Avignon." Laura raised her eyebrows and nodded.

"Oh yeah? I'm from Bordeaux." Rosalie felt like laughing as they were no where near each other but she could see that Laura was trying so she feigned excitement from this revelation.

"No way." She chuckled, putting together her camera so she didn't waste any time.

"The other girls are Elle and Iris. They're lovely and we're completely yours today so just tell us what you want us to do and we'll do it." Rosalie squinted he eyes at her suspiciously for a moment, wondering why she was being so nice to her.

"It's like you can tell I have no idea what I'm doing." She breathed. Laura chuckled and put a hand on her shoulder.

"Not at all. You just looked a bit nervous." She assured her but Rosalie didn't feel assured, just more self conscious now.

The two other girls stood in front of the camera and Laura went to join them, all of them waiting for instructions. Rosalie stared at them and tried to see what she could do to give these girls some character. Taking a deep breath, she followed her gut and feigned confidence.

"Sorry, what are your names?" She asked the two girls she hadn't met.

"Iris" the one with the heavier eyeliner said.

"Elle." The ginger one said. She nodded.

"I'm Rosalie, nice to meet you." It felt weird introducing herself to people that she would be bossing about in a matter of seconds but that was the job she had chosen for herself.

"Okay, you stand here like this." She started moving them about and acting out how they were supposed to look. They all reacted pretty well, knowing what she meant when she tried to get her idea across.
