Peisinoe's P.O.V.

"My poor babies," I said while being crouched in bushes, waiting for the ambush to happen. I was so nervous, this wasn't the longest time that I had been out of water, but this was a first that my children and my new grandchildren were in grave danger with vampires.

"Relax my queen, we will save your family," my protector said while placing his hand on my shoulder. I've always had a protector since I was in my teens. It wasn't until I met my mate when I turned sixteen, that was the main reason I knew I would need a protector.

I had been playing with the dolphins one morning when the sun was just starting to rise and my protector ended up getting hit in the shoulder with an arrow while I had no idea what was going on.

I had turned around to see a young man, that was pretty fit, pointing an arrow directly at me. My hazel eyes briefly met his blue orbs. They only met for a second but I immediately noticed his stance loosen on the arrow before I could feel my protector push me off the rock I was resting on and back into the water.

After that first encounter I began sneaking away from my family and my protector, and I became better at sneaking away every time, but it always lead to me going to the surface to try and take a sneak peek at that guy.

My protector informed me that he was a hunter and I needed to stay away or else I would die, but for some reason I was drawn towards him. I couldn't see him during our second encounter, but I did hear him in the trees. I just stayed where I was, hoping he would come back out and that I could look at his blue eyes again, but he just stayed there.

After a few more encounters and our daily routine, he finally came out of the trees while still pointing an arrow at me, but I could see very easily from his stance, that if he let go, the arrow wouldn't be able to reach me.

"What are you? A mermaid?" he questioned, almost sounding a little crazy or going mad.

"Ew no, mermaids are a little more ugly than me. I'm a siren," I stated, very proud of what I was. The proud and only child to the king and queen of the sirens.

"Why haven't you put me in a trance yet?" he questioned. I laughed while his eyes looked at me, a little terrified that I would do that right now to him, but they also held curiosity.

"Probably the same reason you haven't shot me," I stated while smiling at him. He slowly lowered his bow and arrow before running his one hand through his thick hair.

"What is this pull?" he questioned while looking into my eyes. I immediately knew what this pull between us was, and it was the reason I kept coming back up and the reason I knew he would never let the arrow pierce my skin. My parents had told me that this mate pull would lead me to the next king of the sirens, but I could have never predicted this would be my fate.

We both continued to sneak away from our families to see each other, and we grew to love and care for each other more and more. I learned his name was Artemas Arthur Chase while I was Peisinoe Thara Aquirian. It also wasn't long after I had transformed and was able to walk on land thanks to having a human, or rather a hunter, as a mate.

Neither of our parents ever learned about our actual mates and when I was told on my seventeenth birthday that I would have a husband be chosen for me, we quickly planned a way to run and hide from everyone and the outside world so that we could be together in peace. We ended up running away to the human world.

It was very beautiful and peaceful. We were able to adapt to the human world very quickly without any worries in the world, and before we knew it we were welcoming our first born into the world. We named her Dabria.
